Affordable Virtual Learning Society (AVL)
Explain your project in details:
We are an initiative to help teenagers who are willing to but are unable to afford tertiary education. We will offer them diplomas and or certificates as well as practical training. This is to promote education and standards in the rural communities and create more innovators in the communities. We believe that learned communities are powerful. We are also working on an online platform which allows the rest of the world to communicate and make donations in the form of lessons, videos, MOOCs etc. This will remove a limit to what a person can donate as they can even sit with a student online to give career guidance to them.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
f you are reading this on a computer which you are; then you know anyone can take up an online course or training anywhere as long as you have somewhere to access them and the internet as well. These students however cannot afford to buy laptops and let alone afford an internet connection which would be pretty expensive in the rural areas. Our organization helps students in rural areas to have a competitive advantage in the industry as well as to create innovative minds ready to develop their community. The project will do the following: Reduce the rate of child marriages in the communities, by occupying and teaching them something even better. Reduce the rate of crimes (If people have nothing better to do, they resort to illegal things where they do not have to follow anyone's rules) To create and train minds to be innovative (Imagine after teaching them a course in civil engineering, they go right ahead and build an anchor to an almost falling bridge in the community) It might not pay them but will definitely be beneficial to the development of communities. To create projects that will create businesses which the students could survive on. We do not want them to go back and say "Why bother if I will never use it?" This will not only train them to become better people, but also create richer communities. Try to sign up bright students into scholarship opportunities with the partnering organizations to further their education and training.
Sustainability and future plans
We deliver to: STUDENTS The most helped by our organization are the students that take up these courses for their development. This will help them with skills as well as a sense of belonging with better self-esteem knowing they are good at something. It will also make them competitive in the market. RURAL AREAS Filled with parents who would have wished for their children to become better people than they are but never have the opportunity due to lack of resources. Our organization is a ray of hope to these parents as well as the communities. Let us remember that knowledge is power and I believe this will open up innovation to solve problems in these communities. PARTNERING ORGANIZATIONS Our partnering organizations who will provide us with the courses, as they give back to the community. We hope they feel the satisfaction like we do. THE GOVERNMENT The government has been for years assisting and helping as many students as it can to have the privilege and execute the right to education, however not everyone gets a chance as there are always budgets and criteria to better assist the people. Our organization hopes to help the government in making the right to education for everyone a possibility. Financing Sources: Besides the parent company: Felly Joe Consultants we hope that the projects that we engage the students in which should be profit based in helping them improve their livelihood will also give a certain % to help further support the organization.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
I am a 22 year old hardworking woman inspired to make Education and accessible for everyone. I completed my Bachelors in Commerce (Computer Applications) in India in 2017 and immediately as I did my internship training as project manager in India, started working on AVL Society. I graduated top of my class, awarded the best outgoing sportswoman as well as the Choudary Gold medal for the leadership roles I carried during my studies. Growing up in a community where in attaining a University degree is almost a myth this was a great achievement and it made me view the possibility of helping others achieve the same very possible. Further to this my motivation was also fueled when I lost my father in 2011 and watched my mother take up the role of a single mother and strive towards making the future brighter for three children. I believe I fulfilled the role of being an example to my younger siblings. In addition to working at an IT company, I also run my company as well as the AVL project and have been able to be a part of prestigious events such as the Next Gen Summit, Student Global Entrepreneurship Awards, National Social Media Day as a speaker and so on. I hope I can make my community and beyond a better place.
