The Arthouse of Hope (http://arthouseofhope.org/)
Explain your project in details:
The Arthouse of Hope was started with the aim of helping young girls from families of limited means receive a professional, high-quality art education so that they could utilise it in the future as a profession. It later evolved to the girls producing work good enough to be sold, so we started selling locally. Eventually, The Arthouse of Hope expanded to a fully-functional online store where not only the products made by the girls, but also by underprivileged artisans could be sold. We retain no profits.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
So far, The Arthouse of Hope has helped multiple young talented members of families of limited means in Kanpur by conducting free-of-charge professional art classes for them. These classes not only help with their cognitive development, but have also been able to help them financially through the sales made locally and on the website . We have also partnered with five talented, yet struggling artisans and have made sales of their products to expand their reach and and are now working on bringing many more artisans on board. For the organisation , the primary measure of success is not fiscal, but how much we have been able to spread the reach of art; In this measure, we do believe that we have made a difference, albeit however small it seems to us.
Sustainability and future plans
In the future, we hope to enable many more talented artisans to earn livelihoods sustainably. We also hope to make our online-store global and carry-out deliveries worldwide. In addition, even though we already conduct visual art classes for young children, we hope to be able to expand the scope of our classes to more art-related subjects including even culinary skills and music. Expanding the scope of our classes would help us connect to more children to hone their skills.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
I have always been really passionate about art, and believe that it is important for everybody to have access to the kind of resources I have been fortunate enough to have received. I was 14 years old when I first conceived the idea of the arthouse of hope, because I was shocked by how difficult it was to have access to art supplies and education for children from families of limited means. Besides art, I love writing, and recently published my first novel, entitled the storytellers.
