Puppets 4 Kids
Explain your project in details:
The proposed project is unique in that it gathers the energy and commitment of a group of partner organizations in Hebron Governorate to foster the professional dialogue dynamics necessary for improving the psychosocial well being of Palestinian children and youth through the medium of puppet theatre. This will be achieved through an array of activities aimed at promoting healthy psychosocial development, provide additional tools to community workers, and support early learning and provide much needed recreational activities to low-income families. The main target groups of these activities are children and youth (male and female), parents, social workers, teachers and the project partners; the Palestinian Ministry of Education, UNRWA and CBOs active in the cultural and recreational fields. The proposed project targets all the geographic areas within Hebron Governorate. The final beneficiaries of this project include the public at large, children and youth (males and females ages 6-45), public institutions and CBOs.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
The project has multiple aspects that ensure its success. Firstly, the project makes a concentrated effort to make puppet theatre an acceptable, simple and cost-effective tool that can be used by local community to improve the psychosocial well-being of Palestinian children, youth and the wider community. Secondly, the project is structured to create job opportunities for a group of puppetry practitioners who are not able to access local markets and provide local community with puppet performances as a commercial service. Thirdly, the project creates social capital. This capital is one of the most important values created by social entrepreneurship. Its worth mentioning that this capital will contribute to the creation of a durable network of relationships of mutual acquaintance and recognition. These relationships are based on ethics of cooperation and it will be very critical for poverty alleviation and sustainable human and economic development.
Sustainability and future plans
Kids 4 Kids is a social enterprise that works to improve the psychosocial well-being through the use of drama therapy and puppets theatre. According to UNICEF, 88% of Palestinians are traumatized. This means that Palestinian people need interventions at the psychological level through the use of creative tools. The value propositions of K4K are concentrated on the following; improving the life skills and the mental health of children and youth. The main customers are parents, children, youth, international organizations, caregivers and governmental organizations. The main revenue streams are donations, direct selling to customers and funds. K4K vision goes directly with SDGs especially the objective related to good health and well-being. This is a good indicator to scale up this enterprise in the neighbouring countries, Africa and Latin America.
