Youth Empowerment and Self - Reliance
Explain your project in details:
The project aims at 60 80% of targeted youths graduate out of extreme poverty and become self reliant, lobby and advocacy for economic justice, self-reliance of small holder farmers women, children and youth, mainstreaming gender and HIV & AIDS, champion equal participation of both men, women and children. Further, recruit and support children and vulnerable households. with a view to provide alternative solutions, startup productive assets, finances to commercialize other viable enterprises, ideas, business plans within the agriculture, trade, service provision industries through Farm Hub out grower scheme and graduation approach. Implementing this programme will not only provide alternative solutions but also being means to adapt to climate change, to poverty reduction, employment creation, way of producing high quality and quantity protein to meet the increasing population, livelihood improvement, income generation and increase in national GDP. Through working together with the youths, women and children who make up 80% of Zambia.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
The project impact will be measured using the following indicators -# and % of youths who do not need food or cash assistance 3 months after 24 months project cycle, -# of PoCs receiving cash grants/vouchers for business startups, # of PoCs receiving cash grants/vouchers# of PoCs receiving life skills for livelihood purposes. % of targeted PoC who self-report (decreased/maintained/increased) savings compared to previous year/season, # and % of targeted PoC who currently access (formal/informal) loans services, % of targeted POC who received a direct support to protect or maintain their productive assets # and % of PoC who are applying business skills, -# of targeted PoC reporting improved access to markets, % of targeted PoC who are (wage/self-) employed in the agricultural sector (employing others/not employing others) Average land productivity (yields kg/hectare) per self-employed PoC (per season) for farming, # of animal owned by the self-employed PoC, # of fish owned by the self-employed PoC, % of targeted PoC who self-report (decreased/maintained/increased) income compared to previous year/season
Sustainability and future plans
The project shall employ farm hub out growers scheme model which shall save as the learning, training and experiential sites, provide co guarantee to youth aspiring to borrow huge funds for investment, act as a marketing agency for the CPGs and further, shall trade on behalf of CGPs by means of becoming a marketing wing, a financing hub for future investments and contract producers under out grower scheme mechanism. In the long term the farm hub shall become the major driver of the programme by means of value chain system through construction of trading centers, opening of sales outlets.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
The project will be managed by Reuben Chongo Mutofwe aged 30 holder of a diploma holder in Agriculture with credit in Animal science from Natural Resources Development College from Zambia and currently pursuing a bachelors degree in agriculture. who has worked for several organizations ranging from field officer to acting coordinator and has over 6 years experience working in agriculture projects, possess skill in Agriculture Economics, Farm Accounts, Livestock Diseases, Livestock Production, Agriculture Extension, Agriculture Engineering to mention but a few.
