Explain your project in details:

With the increase of the security instability and famine in the great lakes region, Uganda is one of the worlds largest refugee populations host countries. Only this year Uganda has hosted more than 40,000 refugee families from the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan. The Solidarity Eden Foundation aims at setting up more opportunity parameters for these refugees in Uganda by opening a Youth Resource Center that will help give more room of training that uplifts their self-reliance in this host country. The Solidarity Eden Foundation has been serving refugees between 17 and 24 years old through Language Development, Vocational Training, Community Development Program and Creative Arts. Most of these refugees face a language barrier, unemployment and other additional challenges. This is where our programs intervene and help them integrate in the community. Due to the high demand, we aim at establishing a community center that will enable us to support more refugees. Through the establishment of this resource center, youth will have the opportunity to develop their English Skills, learn some vocational skills that will help them identify business opportunities around them and promote self-reliance, will have an opportunity to attend to developmental workshops that promote entrepreneurial skills and youth will have more time to develop their Music, Dance and Drama skills. We believe this resource center will transform a lot of lives.

Sustainability and future plans

The Solidarity Eden Foundation focuses on long lasting process, striving to create projects that will benefit the broken communities for a long period of time. Within the 3 years of service to the community the Solidarity Eden Foundation has established sustainable programming which can be adopted in any community. We have partnered with other refugee led organizations and networks to ensure the organization growth. We strive at exploring every opportunity for sustainable growth. The organization has developed a strong plan which gives all of our youth an opportunity to explore and learn new skills. Every year youth have a chance to participate to four community capacity building workshops, two youth conferences and an annual youth production. The organization has also developed local and international relationships. Our financial sources are profits made from our craft products, Foundations, Kampala City Council grants, Donations from local and international donors through our community ambassadors department. However we are working on possible measures to become financially self-reliant by establishing more income generating activities, fundraising events through our Music, Dance, Drama and poetry. Our program model flexibility is a great resource we use to ensure that we are delivering effective, efficient programming at all the times.

Greetings Friend,

Happy to meet you through this competition!!! and i have learnt many things by going through your idea.
The efforts you have taken to bring up this idea is stupendous and inspiring many budding entrepreneurs like me. We are competitors just for the sake of this competition, but on a broader picture we all are the future reformers and businessmen/ businesswomen. We shall be proud of ourselves as we are not selfish to think only about money earning, instead we integrate the talent with a Sustainable development goals and that is really commendable and a rarity in this generation. We as a whole set an example to various other budding entrepreneurs and make them feel that "Think Good Be Good Live Good". As i say in all my presentations "We should preserve nature for it to preserve us" and we are contributing to that saying someway or other, like in the form saving nature, changing people lives, changing the way we think and fostering humanity in each and every person.

So my dear friend, i hope this relationship with you will last long post this competition too as i believe the concept of group play, so we help eachother in putting forward the ideas to a better use. As a starting step of group play i have provided some motivational comments to u and i would be more than happy if you could find time and reciprocate some motivational comments too, as we both are sailing the same boat we know the pains we go through....

All the best for your future and stay healthy and happy.... :)

Dear Jeremiah,
1. Business requires a passion. Without passion, business is inanimate object. Business is not seen how much profit you gets in the future, but how strongly you can survives in the business. Business is about learning, not planted and abandoned, and hopes to grow big just like that. Businesses require special treatment by maintaining commitment and consistency, and seeing it grow big slowly.
2. And in connection with that statement, what are your expectations and the extent of your efforts to develop and maintain your ideas / projects?
3. Would you share with me about that through the link https://www.entrepreneurship-campus.org/ideas/16/9530/

Thanks for sharing

Dear Jeremiah,
1. In connection with my previous questions about your idea or project, one way to achieve our goals and objectives continuously is to collaborate. There is a saying that to achieve our goals quickly is to do it yourself, but if you want to do it for a long-term purpose, working together is one of the most important things. My next question are:
a. Does your idea or project do the same thing?
b. With whom do you cooperate?
c. What is the form of cooperation you offer with them?
2. I am very happy if you will share with me and please give me comments or advise on my ideas about this through the link https://www.entrepreneurship-campus.org/ideas/16/9530/ Thanks.

It's really a nice idea. The way you designed it is much appreciable and compatible with the sustainable developments goals. However, I have some queries about your project:

1. What was your motivation behind conceiving the idea?
2. How much manpower do you currently have in your project?
3. Do you get any govt support ?
4. Do you think a non-profit can survive even without the help of government support?
5. How do you envision your project in the next 5 years?
6. How are you going to involve young minds in your project?

Thank you.

Dear Jeremiah,
1. Previously thank you for your response and explanation for my previous question. I really appreciate your thoughts. If you dont mind, I want to ask what is the difference between your ideas and projects from others? or is there a specific theme of your idea or project?
2. I want to share my idea about "Eco-Cretivephoto Studio" called ec-studio. My business idea is through a hobby that I have done in one creative entrepreneurship like art photography. Through Eco-Creativephoto Studio, I want to educate people to change their characters for the better through photos. Through photos, there are people who can say something, communicate and speak and the most important thing to get good photos is the skills needed, patience and focus. My idea is collaboration between the concept of art photography, business, the concept of sustainable ethics and educational skills and development towards sustainability. This is what differentiates my ideas from others. If you want to share with me, please open this link: https://www.entrepreneurship-campus.org/ideas/16/9530/ Thank you.

Wish you all the best.
Happy Day

It is really a nice idea and has all the potentials to reach a greater audience. Your project is so universal and i hope this sets an example and same will be followed across many other countries so that everyone gets benefited out of it. Do let me know when it is on live, i will try my best to reach that out to as many people as possible....

And we both being participants in same competetion and we talking about sustainable development, i thought it is always good to have a cordial relationship with the participants, so i request you to give your valuable comments, and votes on my idea Save Vriksha and the same can be reached out in the below mentioned link

Hi colleague I hope you're doing well. Your Idea is amazing and I'll be so proud to have the opportunity to meet each other. However, what is the key factor of your innovation? Is it your team, your business model, your process or your realistic milstones? Is your innovation a strong scalable entreprise? What could be your turnover in the next 3 years and what could be your gross margin? Is your innovation need a patent?

Ok everyone might consider me crazy.. But I have a thing to say..

All of us are working very hard to make our porject/ideas finalist.. We are wasting a lot of our time, money and labor. But my point is, what are we going to be rewarded?? Are we even going to be invited to Berlin? Are the organizers going to bear any of our travel/accomodation/event expense? All these questions came to my mind because I came to know that the previous winners were given literally nothing, other than an online certificate. We all are working hard, but if our labor is not recognized what is the point of this? Can anyone clarify what the finalists and winners will get??(Other than the virtual batch of course)

June 26, 2018 06:49

I am happy you read my comment well, there are further developments in your product and hopefully you succeed. I do pray your success in this competition will happen because the world needs more and more people like you.

Hi,
Security issues cause many social problems, especially to the point of causing people to flee to safer places. Apparently this also causes problems, the emergence of unemployment in the evacuation places, in addition to the crime rate is also increasing. Need a solution about this and your project helps in overcoming this social problem.

Best luck,

Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, has about 1.72 million inhabitants. The city itself is home to more than 350,000 registered refugees, but the actual figure may be higher. More and more refugees are moving out of refugee settlements and into Kampala, as evidenced by the 31,000 new urban registrants filed in 2014...

On 17 May 1997, Laurent-Désiré Kabila, a leader of Tutsi forces from the province of South Kivu, became President, reverting the country's name to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Tensions between President Kabila and the Rwandan and Tutsi presence in the country led to the Second Congo War from 1998 to 2003. Ultimately, nine African countries and around twenty armed groups became involved in the war,[8] which resulted in the deaths of 5.4 million people.[9][10][11][12] The two wars devastated the country. Democratic Republic of Congo is extremely rich in natural resources but has had political instability, a lack of infrastructure, issues with corruption and centuries of both commercial and colonial extraction and exploitation with little holistic development.[citation needed] Besides the capital Kinshasa, the two next largest cities Lubumbashi and Mbuji-Mayi are both mining communities. DR Congo's largest export is raw minerals, with China accepting over 50% of DRC's exports in 2012. great idea, especially for internally displaced people and refugees. This idea would give them more hope for life and would encourage them, I suggest competitions be held for them and the winner be awarded so as to motivate them and certifies also be given. Good luck, I hope this gets implemented

President Laurent-Désiré Kabila was assassinated by one of his bodyguards on 16 January 2001 and was succeeded eight days later as President by his son Joseph.

As of 2018 around 600,000 people have fled to neighboring countries from conflicts in the centre and east of the DRC.[13]

As of 2016, DR Congo's level of human development is 176th out of 187 countries, according to the Human Development Index.

Around the world, there is a refugee crisis. More people are displaced than at any time since the Second World War. From Syria to the Mediterranean, the numbers are increasing. But the system designed to respond to refugees is broken. People face decades in closed refugee camps, destitution in urban areas, or they are forced to risk their lives on perilous journeys. The status quo is unsustainable and our politicians are failing to find better solutions.
But one group of people who are finding solutions are refugees themselves. Below the radar, refugees are leading change. Out of necessity, they can be highly innovative and entrepreneurial. Community-led organizations sometimes flourish, albeit on a small scale. The problem is that they are locked out of the system: they lack recognition, access to funding, and are ignored as prospective partners. So they are unable to scale.
This idea is to support refugee self-reliance. It intends to show the world that, far from being passive victims, refugees can help themselves. The aim is to take one of the best examples of a refugee-led organization and scale it. We believe that by supporting an exemplar of this bottom-up, refugee-led approach and connecting it to a global network.

Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, has about 1.72 million inhabitants. The city itself is home to more than 350,000 registered refugees, but the actual figure may be higher. More and more refugees are moving out of refugee settlements and into Kampala, as evidenced by the 31,000 new urban registrants filed in 2014.

Refugees who opt to stay in Kampala rather than the designated refugee settlements are expected to be self-reliant. In general, the Government of Uganda and UNHCR do not provide accommodation or material assistance to asylum seekers and refugees living in Kampala.

When they settle in a city, urban refugees are often confronted with issues similar to what the local urban poor encounter. Yet they also face additional challenges, like adapting to a new culture, learning a new language, overcoming stereotypes, and living in fear of being returned to their home country or found and harmed by a member of the opposition from their country of origin.

Great work Jeremiah, this initiative will surely impact a thousand youths especially the disadvantaged urban refugees in Kampala Uganda who undergo harsh conditions inorder to integrate within the host community. This will really help them have a voice, set personal goals and come into a greater understanding of their bodies. Wishing you great succsss in this project.

Keep going Jeremiah! You will transform a lot of refugees in Kampala/Uganda especially the youths. Because of its location, culture of hospitality and the generous asylum policies of the Ugandan government, Uganda is home to more than 1,000,000 registered refugees and asylum seekers. Most migrate from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), South Sudan, Somalia and Eritrea. (UNHCR, Uganda, 2016.) Others originate from Sudan, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Burundi, making it the country with the largest number of refugees being hosted in Africa and top ten in the world

Uganda is currently hosting the highest number of refugees in the countrys history, and is receiving simultaneous emergency influxes from South Sudan, DRC and Burundi.

The number of South Sudanese refugees in Uganda has exceeded one million, and the daily arrival rate remains high. Arrivals from DRC have risen since Late December 2017. Chronic underfunding of the refugee response is threatening humanitarian organisations ability to continue delivering lifesaving and critical assistance.
