Explain your project in details:
Lancers Corner is a not for profit project. It is neither an academic institution and nor a training/coaching center rather it is a professional skills development center where the focus is to prepare young graduates especially those belonging from the rural and under privileged areas of Pakistan for Professional job interviews and enhancing their confidence building and communication skills. In this regard, we organize free of cost career counselling workshops to cater all segments of society. Last time we did one workshop for fresh graduates and now planning the next for the single parents.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
Lancer's Corner is established with an objective to fulfill UN SDG goal # 8 i.e. Decent Work and Economic Growth, Our idea is to provide equal work opportunities for all. Good jobs should not be restricted to people with an access to quality education. The problem we have seen is not only the education but the skills which are required such as confidence, personality, communication etc which are lacking in students from under privileged and rural areas and now we found a new segment of our clients i.e. single parent especially the divorced women who lost their confidence while being in abusive marriages. Our only scale to measure or evaluate our success is through individual feedback we receive form our clients.
Sustainability and future plans
Since, Lancer's Corner is not for profit so initially we are not charging anything for our counseling workshops and there are nominal charges for face to face counseling sessions. It is managed by 2 partners at the ratio of 60:40 partnership and the 40% share holder is a kind of silent partner with no significant decision making power. However, most of the decisions are taken with his input and knowledge. We do not have any external funding and due to limited resources we look for places with no or nominal charges to organize our workshops. Currently, due to the limited resources we are running this project only in one city but in future with funding opportunities we are motivated to start this project in other cities of Pakistan.
