Design of the Solar/Wind Hybrid Generation with PHCA(Pumped Hydro Compressed Air) Energy Storage Sys

Presently, the main problem is that the major portion of energy demand is met by fossil fuels, which are day by day decreasing. Therefore, the world needs to move on some kind of sustainable renewable energy generation system that is reliable and cheap. The other main problem with the generation is that, power that is generated must be consumed or stored, otherwise it will be wasted. Currently, there are many renewable sources that are sustainable and cost effective, e.g. solar, wind, and hydel energy. Since, the hydel energy is location dependent, solar energy is available everywhere but during daytime, and the wind that is useful for generation is available at certain geographical locations. So, it would be beneficial to rely on more than one renewable energy source to get sustainable power generation. In our country, there are few locations where hydel energy can be harnessed but there are many locations where wind can be harnessed. So, we can choose wind as one energy source. Also the solar energy, which is available everywhere can accompany the wind energy during daytime. To further increase the reliability of the system, there must be a storage system. There are currently two trending and effective storage system around world, which are pumped hydro and Compressed air energy storage systems. But, these storage systems need specific geographical locations to get maximum efficiency from them. In China, an energy storage system idea has emerged which combines both pumped hydro and compressed air systems together called PHCA (Pumped Hydro Compressed Air) system to obtain a storage system that is independent of specific geographical location and can be implemented on both small, as well as on large scale with minimum cost as compared to latter two systems.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
The design of a solar-wind hybrid generation system with compressed hydel storage is fully compliance with SDG. This project if implemented on larger and smaller scale can reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. Protecting the planet is also in a goal in the SDG. The compressed hydel storage uses only water and air to store energy, unlike batteries which contain harmful chemicals that can destroy the environment. Furthermore, the electricity is generated from solar and wind energy sources which are absolutely pollution free and don't contribute to carbon emission.
Sustainability and future plans
The main purpose of developing this project is to demonstrate the idea and feasibility of the PHCA (Pumped Hydro Compressed Air) storage system when combined with solar and wind generation system. This Novel storage (PHCA) system will create the way of storing electricity in bulk amount in an efficient way and furthermore the use of hybridized renewable sources will pave the way of generating cheap, clean and reliable electricity.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
Coming from a family with an agricultural background, I am proud to have defied all odds and got admission in Bachelors program in Electrical engineering. Ever since I was very young, I used to play around with electrical components and build circuits. This interest further developed when I studied Physics in my Intermediate and decided to pursue this as a career. When I got accepted as an Honors student for Bachelor in Electrical engineering at MUET (Mehran University of engineering and technology), one of the premier institutes of Pakistan, it was a dream come true. MUET has played a vital role in both my personal and professional development. I am particularly passionate about machine learning, power systems, Integrated circuits and control systems. Whether it was a class project, assessment or any competition I usually came out on top in the relevant categories. I actively participated in many healthy programs such as different workshops, engineering competitions, English language training and conferences, which taught me invaluable management leadership skills as well as developed strong work ethic skills. Now that I am about to complete my Bachelors. My further educational aspirations consist of acquiring a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering science. I hope the Masters degree in Electrical technology will not only help me learn and apply engineering skills but also groom my communication and management skills that will help me in my professional life. I hope to utilize my skills to revolutionize the energy sector and teach my skills so others may benefit from my knowledge.
