Explain your project in details:
Uyogaup project is the Tanzania based project that will be dealing with mushroom cultivation and training of the local farmers. It will be established at Ijombe juu village-Mbeya city in Tanzania. The prime goal of this project aims at increasing the production of oyster mushroom and shiitake mushroom with effective utilization of cereal straw and saw dust to meet the demands of local companies, wholesales and other customers as well as training other mushroom farmers. The main activities will involve; Site development that will include buying & ownership of the land, clearing, construction of infrastructures, buying & installation of equipments. Raw materials collection and storage. Cultivation & harvesting of estimated (12-24) tons of fresh oyster mushroom per year. Post harvest processing, storage s & marketing, where dried or fresh oyster mushroom will be sold. The last activity but of greatest importance is to rent the equipments to other smallholder farmers and train them. The approaches for implementing my project will involve; increasing mushroom production through construction of large farm, expansion and improving cultivation processes of smallholder farmers through training & renting them equipments. Introducing new equipments that will be used to simplify cultivation process but after generation of profit. Reducing post- harvest loses by drying mushroom, since fresh mushroom have short shelf life. The objectives of my project are; Training local smallholder mushroom farmers so that they can improve mushroom production. Registering as an enterprise to expand the market coverage. Introduction of new machines that will simplify and enhance easy mushroom cultivation, example bag filling machine, wheat straw chopping machine. Value addition to mushroom by making various products during post-harvest processing. Effective utilization of agriwastes especially from cereals so as to minimize pollution caused by burning them in farms. The estimated startup capital is Tsh40,000,000
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
Monitoring and evaluation of the project will involve project members (workers) and staff jointly with other stakeholders including government, public authorities and other beneficiaries. Monitoring and evaluation activities will involve baseline surveys, beneficiary monitoring, customer feedbacks & comments, surveys, reports, reviews and independent final evaluation. The provided suggestions and recommendations from stakeholders will be taken on board and evaluated before implementation to ensure that all activities and amendments are carried appropriately to achieve desired outcomes. The expected achievements are; reduced pre- harvest loses due to poor cultivation and maintenance methods. Reduced post-harvest loses and covering the demand of local companies and wholesalers. Increased utilization of organic wastes from cereal farms and saw dust hence decreasing air pollution since farmers tend burn them. Improved economic status of other mushroom smallholder farmers and employed workers. Exposure to other institutions such as research agencies, companies and governmental institutions. The extent of the perception that this Uyogup project will succeed and sustainability is anchored on commitment of team members, relevant knowledge and skills that will enable success implementation of the project plan, intended good management practices to support accountability and availability of all necessary resources together with their proper utilization. The following are the success and sustainability indicators for the project Having ability to produce (1-2) tons of fresh mushroom per month. Continuous introduction and advancement of technology. Full dependent on own source of income generated from the project. Expansion of the project to other areas so as to increase productions. Networking and collaborating with other organization, large mushroom farms and companies.
Sustainability and future plans
Uyogaup project establishment capital is estimated to be Tsh 41,500,000 that includes fixed capital and operating expenses for one circle of cultivation, where means of finance involve promoters contribution (Tsh39,000,000) and self raised capital (Tsh2,500,000) up to date. The production capacity of the project is estimated to be (12-24) tons of fresh oyster mushroom per year with the mean of 18 tons per year where the average utilization is estimated to be 75%. Our customers will be Bagamoyo uyoga company, local wholesalers , retailers and external companies like Tanta farm from Egypt. The estimated selling price of fresh harvested oyster mushroom is estimated to range from Tsh4000-Tsh10000 depending on customers. Therefore with the production of 18 tons of fresh oyster mushroom per year total income generated will be ranging from Tsh72,000,000 to Tsh108,000,000 where after deduction of operating capital per year which is estimated to be Tsh36,000,000 the net profit(pre-tax) generated will be around Tsh36,000,000 to Tsh72,000,000 per year. In some years to come project will be expanded to other new potential areas with high cultivation of cereals to maximize utilization and production together with the use of advanced equipments for simplification of cultivation processes. More over renting equipments to other farmers, offering trainings and supports to them will at the tip of our hands so as to make Tanzania as one among the tigers in mushroom cultivation in African continent.

As a mushroom farmer with the ability to produce 40kg of fresh oyster mushroom per week. As a part time trainer I worked as a part time trainer at Namaingo business agency from 2016 2017. I was training people with payment of 130,000/= ( USD 58) per session. Education I attended primary education at Ijombe primary school. I attended secondary education at Ilowola secondary school. I attended advanced level education at pandahill secondary school. Up to date I am a second year medical doctor student at the University of Dar Es Salaam. Leadership skills. As a leader of irish potato and mushroom farming in a group of three farmers. As a chair of research and professional exchange committee at the university of Dar Es Salaam medical student association. Competitions and Boot camp participated.
