Rescuing and Valuing the Women
Explain your project in details:
The principal objective of the Rescuing and Valuing the Women project is to show in schools big women of our society. This objective has other internal goals, first inspire girls to follow careers where there arent many women, like science, math, engineering, technology, politics and spaces of protagonism in general. The second goal is help to lessen the numbers of children/teenager marriage in Brazil, here we have the bigger rate of Latin America, it's happening because girls aren't motivated to study by their families: many parents just want to transform girls in wives. Finally, another objective is to show to girls and boys an obvious factor: women and men are equal, in all topics, and sexism is a rude behavior. The project happens out of the class: the activities are made in places like refectory, movie room and auditoriums. In the refectory are generally exposed panels about big women in science, literature and politics; between the biographies exposed, are stories like Anne Frank, Katherine Johnson, Paola Carosella and Margaret Thatcher. In movie room, is exposed the movie "He named me Malala", because I believe Malala Yousafzai is the most important protagonist girl today; her story can show to students about the force of girls and the power of education. In auditoriums, I make lectures about the lack of women representation and talk about sexism; it's important because it is the moment when the students have questions and can expose their ideas. These activities already happened in many schools. The curious is: how I am a youth, the teenagers and children generally want to listen what I will say. It is very significant because they can see activism, equality, human rights, are topics for everyone, not just for adults or politicians.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
When the project was just an idea, in 2016, I was selected - because of the idea - to take part in a Brazil's government program called "Youth Parliament of MERCOSUR". This is a very significant thing, because many students tried, but my idea was chosen. After all this process, for my performance in Youth Parliament (where I was elected to represent my state - São Paulo - and my country) I took part of gender commission in the 4th International Meeting Youth Parliament of MERCOSUR, in Montevideo, Uruguay. Another victory happened in 2017, when the project won a competition for an Asian magazine called "Change Magazine": they wanted a project, which could impact in girls education in underdeveloped countries. More than 20 projects from 20 different countries were competing, but after the analysis of 5 education experts, my project was chosen and won the prize. Finally, another impact was when I was elected, by Education's Secretary from São Paulo State, one of ten most inspiring students from public high schools in all state. That was so powerful because, today, the Education's Secretary from São Paulo State have more than 4 million students: be considered one of the most inspiring, in a so huge number, was very exciting. Finally, sites like Lower House from Brazil and one of the biggest portal in my country, the Portal Terra, already shared my project for the world too. Today, many people, from many places in Brazil, in South America and in world, know the Rescuing and Valuing the Women, this happens because I had opportunities to show my work by Change Magazine, Youth Parliament, Education's Secretary and other sites.
Sustainability and future plans
The only way the project gets money is by donations. Sometimes someone gives money, but frequently we receive the donation in materials, like paper, banners, etc. In 2017, the project survive with 100 reais (it is like $27.31 USD), it was the donation from a local businessmen. In 2018, the project received materials donations, like banners. This situation is very hard, because block the actions, but I don't give up. I have ideas to increase the project, like promote an essay competition about feminism in my country, I think the prizes could be books about big women, but it would be very expensive to me. In the moment, this is just an idea. The only sure future project is the development of a phone app about the Rescuing and Valuing the Women. Others volunteers from my country and me are working on it, and probably the app will be available in 2018. The idea is making a virtual encyclopedia, but just with biographies of women. The app will have free download, and the target will be increase when the project receives more donations. What inspires me to create this virtual encyclopedia about women is one factor: before the Brazilian politician Marielle Franco died earlier this year, she didnt have a page in Wikipédia, she just got it after she died; I don't want this happen with any woman more, so I created an app just to "rescuing and valuing women" of all parts of world: It will be called RescuingPédia.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
I'm 18 years old, I live in Mairinque city, in Brazilian state of São Paulo. In the next six-month period I will start the university with a scholarship, I will study International Relations. I lived the most part of my life in a poor neighborhood, I studied in poor public schools and I know the reality of poor people in Brazil: all this motivates me to want change the situation, principally, of the quality of public education in my country. Even being a shy girl, I always participate of the public life of schools where I studied, like education's conferences in elementary school and student council in high school. My politics life starts to be intense in high school, when I participate of three bigger youth parliaments: São Paulo state Youth Parliament 2016, where I represent my city; Brazilian Youth Parliament 2017, when I represent my state; and finally, the Youth Parliament of MERCOSUR, where I represent my state and my country. All these projects were so hard and I needed to be responsible all the time, because in some moments I met authorities like ministries - of many countries - and important politicians. When I was 15 I started to be a debater in my school debate club: I participate in four tournaments, and I had the gold medal in all them. This gives to me self-confidence, a thing so necessary to be a good performer in bigger challenges. Sometimes, some people forgot I am just a teenager, because unfortunately, for the adults, to be critical, to like politics, you need to be an adult too. I am just a girl at the age of 17. I have my personal flaw, but I always try to be better.
