SPITCH NG- Public Speaking Training Hub
Explain your idea in details:
The main objective of this idea is to get public speaking skills imbibed in people by imparting quality knowledge on the subject and making them great speakers. It is to debunk the myth that public speaking is only for certain people and not for others. Thus, making people see the innate ability and potential to change the world either as an able-bodied person or a person with disability thereby creating a balance between the physically challenged and able-bodied individuals. The activities of the Hub will be the training sessions where the participants are put through the skill and art of public speaking and the innovative approach to this is that on admitting them into the hub for the training, they get the following: 1) An admission number to distinguish them (just like matriculation numbers in Universities). 2) Opportunity to be engaged in practical sessions. 3) Opportunity to balance the nexus between writing and speaking. 4) Writing of theoretical and practical examinations to test their knowledge and understanding of the skill 5) Mentorship programmes whereby participants are attached to a facilitator in order to follow up and monitor his/her public speaking life and development. 6) Opportunity to speak at competitions organised by the hub for them to exercise their knowledge on what they have learnt. 7) Certificate of excellence upon completion and passing of the theory and practical examinations.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The impact of the idea is of high interest as we intend to train a minimum of 300 to 400 people in a year and since our target audience will not be limited in scope, we are open to training university students, Secondary School pupils, people in Adult Education centers and others that might show the interest of learning the art of speaking powerfully to influence their listeners. A way to evaluate or measure our impact and success is by taking a survey through the use of questionnaires, interviews and other related processes to get their opinions about our services as well as how they have developed since they completed the training. Doing that will help to know our strengths and weaknesses, thus, giving us a direction of how we should move. The testimonies of our participants will add up as the evaluation process as we tend to pay attention to them and bring deductions from all their statements. These in coronary will form a sort of compilation of how we can make our services better.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
The business is a profit-making organization that intends to generate revenue from payments made for training and sale of training materials which will in turn help in giving honorarium to our facilitators. Also, proposals and requests for sponsorship will be written to organizations, companies and other institutions that can be of assistance when we intend to organize competitions, conferences and events that would involve the participation of the general public. I intend to sustain this business by drawing out a clear cut plan of how activities of the hub can be run in such a way that we will be able to achieve our goals for the year as well as creativity in business operation such that we do not keep repeating the same thing almost every time. So, since there will be variety of things to engage in, definitely, the business can be sustained.
