Organic pesticide ''NG'WA BIO-PESTICIDE'' made from natural decomposed extracts of organic wastes. Active ingredients are; - azadirachtin, nimbin, tephrosin, nitrogen, urea and lantana fumigant (dihydro oxathiole, coumaran, methoxy, trihydroxy flavone, benzenediol, oxymethyl furfurole). The product control pests (caterpillar, aphids, ant, taboo bugs, mealy bugs, cabbage web worm, white flies, cow pea beetles, worms, mites) and fungus in spinach, amarantus, tomatoes, cabbage, water melon, okra, egg plant, carrot, cucumbers, maize, beans, cow peas, papaws, mangoes and oranges. The product is to address the problem of chemical exposure of pesticides that cause 0.5% farmer's death each year in Tanzania (United Republic of Tanzania 2017) The activities to be carried out are :- Developing of final product, Demonstration and piloting, Acquiring required approved certification and licenses, Protecting Intellectual Property, Conducting awareness training to farmers on the side effects of using harmful Agro-Chemicals, Product development, Purchasing of more raw materials, Paying of utilities, Product distribution, Packaging ,Promotion and marketing activities. The method used to market the innovation is through proper packing of the product in one litre labeled bottle and direct distributed to farmers. The route used are, Identifying leaders of each farm group and use them as selling point. Creation of awareness program to farmers such as training and workshops which will be done through visiting different groups of farmers. Providing some free products to farmers to test as a motivation for them to buy the products and establishment of free consultation and post service programs.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The product ''NGWA bio-pesticide'' protects living organisms against environment pollution caused by chemical exposure of pesticides but also help farmers to increase their yields without affecting their health as a result of zero hunger, No poverty and good heath and well being of the people. Farmers increase their income due to the use of safe bio-pesticide that cuts the cost of buying safety gears and treatment of illness caused by Agro-Chemicals. Livestock keepers increase their income through selling raw materials (rabbit and cow urine). In addition increase the GDP as it solve farmers problem of pesticide poisoning. Farmers contribute up to 70% of employment in Tanzania as well as 30% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Through monthly production of 5000 litres of NGWA Bio-pesticide which is chemical free made from extracts of decomposed organic wastes.The product is packed in a proper labeled one litre bottle and direct distributed to 70% Tanzanian population who are farmers from different parts of Tanzania. Each product will be sold at 5,000 Tanzania Shillings. After one year we will re-invest our profit and increase our production from 500 litres to 5000 liters per month earning the revenue of 5000 litres @5000 TZS = 25,000,000 Tanzanian Shilling.
Mr. Edmond Ngwalago is a young Chief Executive Officer. A graduate in Logistics and Transport management who passed through a six month agribusiness management training at the International of Tropical Agriculture. He has an experience of 3 years working as assistant agribusiness manager at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture in youth agripreneur project. Mr. Ngwalago has an international experience in agribusiness as he participated in several African Youth Agripreneur Forum that took place in Nigeria 2017 and Ivory Coast 2018. He has attended ENABLE Transformation for African Agricultural Technologies (TAAT), 2018 in Kenya. In addition he has several awards including inattentiveness and creativity in advancing agribusiness given by the African Development Bank 2018, Young graduate entrepreneurship given by National Economic Empowerment Council of Tanzania 2018 and Best innovation given by the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology 2019.
