Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Targets The target of SMILE AGRO will be farmers which will have an impact on the people. SMILE AGRO targets to reach more farmers and farmlands to ensure that not just a particular set of farmers are covered but to deliver our services (agricultural drones- which will be used for crop spraying, planting, irrigation, crop assessment and monitoring) but nationally and internationally. Measures to evaluate success Acceptability: after the series of workshops and educating the farmers about the modern life of agricultural practices they will gladly accept it. Reachability: once a set of farmers have accepted the agritech services and have seen the results that follows it, recommending our agricultural services to other farmers both home and abroad will follow. It will thus tend to reach more farmers. Profit Yielding: providing quality agricultural technology services to the farmers will help them save time and energy and in return increase not just productivity but the income will be higher when compared to the crude farming methods employed before. SMILE AGRO believes the impact of this project is great because the lives of the people will be touched and the farmers will have proof of their labour. Hunger in Nigeria is high which are a result of poor productivity, uneven food distribution and losses incurred. But in all productivity is central to all, therefore the need to focus on productivity can minimise the high hunger rate
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Business Model Subscription business model will be used. As a provider of agro-based services, SMILE AGRO will like to reach out to more farmers and their cooperatives, to make it look less expensive and not worrisome in terms of paying for SMILE AGRO services, we have devised a subscription plan, which are basic, medium and advanced plans which are suitable for every farmers and their cooperatives to choose depending on their financial capability. Payment system for each of those plans will be based on the number of services rendered. Financing Source As an idea, we plan to start with what we have. Then source for funding from family members and friends will serve as a boost, if possible have a launching program to help achieve SMILE AGRO's goals, or as time progresses we will seek for funding from venture capitalist to help in the expansion and to acquire more expertise and equipments for SMILE AGRO usage. Collaborators SMILE AGRO will collaborate both with the public and private sectors. Public and private farms owners and their cooperatives will be a part of the collaborators.
I'm 23 years of age. Background Emmanuel Al-hassan is the conceiver of this idea, SMILE AGRO. He is a blogger, freelancer, passionate lover of agriculture and also a leader. He oversees all planning and the process of implementation for SMILE AGRO and serves as its potential CEO. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Benin and currently lives in Nigeria. Things actually changed before graduating from the university. The love for business grew passionately after several engagements with business, entrepreneurship and leadership meetings, seminars and workshops while in the university. Graduated with a degree in health education seems like an impossibility engaging in agro-business. But that impossibility never stopped him from pursuing his aspirations in agro-business. He is a new player in the industry with a possibility of becoming one of the top shots in the industry. Motivation All thanks to the inner desire to be an entrepreneur I ever want to be. I'm totally inspired by my mentors such as Dr. Strive Masiyiwa and Mr Oscar Udebuana (CEO of AgroBarn). Seeing that there is huge production of food but still many lack the access to quality foods or most farmers put a lot of funds in managing their crops before harvesting them. At the end lot of resources such as water are wasted and high level of manpower are needed. I feel there is a gap SMILE AGRO can play in this situation. Qualities Consistency is the key. Even when the tough seems unfriendly. Good time and people management. Failures never seems like a stumbling block but helps to reach my goals, as I build on them. Listening to my mentors as they help to motivate and advise me either through their works or encouragement.
