Environment as visible images of poverty
Explain your idea in details:
I am currently working on grass root awareness campaign to all secondary schools in my community to bring to their notice that a safety and clean environment is our collective effort cause it defines who we are. This can help people to see how exposed and neat we are. Good environment improves both economy and influx of investors to our community. With this mindset we can channel our income to improve our standard of living instead spending on hospital bills, clean environment reduces disease outbreak, occupational injuries, and insecurity. When I say it generates income I mean to both properties owners, business men and women in any region. To make cleaning chart to all classroom in both private and public school so that it will become as part of positive thinking about our environment. Above all not to forget about proper ventilation system by tree planting(afforestation) and I want to have over 1million environmental ambassadors in the state,so that they can report illegal treatment of waste disposal and recycling bins. Starting an environmental club at school is a great way to get students energized about taking care of the Earth and helping their community while learning about some of the most important issues facing the world in the 21st century.Ambassadorship , a non-profit environmental network for teens, teachers and youth leaders, offers many tips on how to start an environmental club. First and foremost is to make sure there are at least a half dozen or so other students interested in forming such a club to begin with, and then also finding a teacher, community leader or parent who is willing to serve as an adult sponsor. The sponsors role is to provide advice along the way and to help ensure the stability of the group from year-to-year activities.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The major impact of this idea Is to reduce poverty visibility, and by implementing the best watch towards the activities of people in our environment, first of all; it will reduce crime rate , insecurities, occupational injuries and disease outbreak. If the above issues are on check, then foreign investors can invest in such region :which will increase revenue, and employment. It will boost the economy, cause the environment will be more business friendly for everyone. To add up to insecurities and crime, when there is love or law towards the environment nobody will want to disturb any peace. Violence have more effect on the environment than any other vices. The idea can also reduce the level of hedonism and self centeredness among people in communities by treating the environment with love, care and support, cause what goes around comes around. Importance of creating this club in schools is to bring values into the school curriculum, as an attempt to moralize education, especially to generation X : characterized by self-centeredness, inquisitional attitude and hedonism. Teaching happiness, empathy, altruism and compassion has proven beneficial results for class room learning as a whole. Littering is a huge problem in the community where secondary schools are situated in our community .clean environment is essential for :economic growth, sustainable development, health, biodiversity and safety, lack of clean and safety environment endangers people livelihoods, that leads to poverty, drug and substance abuse(including alcoholism), crime, mental illness. And eventually the breakdown of the family, more so increased school drop-out rate and increased gang involvement plus ultimately overdcrowd prison. Community with clean environment : prospers economically and physically, happy and productive families are contributors to national health and wealth,No direct assistance but indirect provision of living environment that is conducive for their health, safety, economic, prosperity, and sustainable development.Safe the environment today.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Connect secondary school students interested in environmental issues within the Jos community School and across campus, Provide an arena for students to create lasting networks, which will help further students future professional goals, focus on environmental public policy and problem solving occurring locally and globally, enhance students understanding and participation in the environmental policy process, and increase all secondary School students knowledge of environmental issues through events, panel discussions and social activities example Facebook group for students and alumni of the program. The purpose of this page is to provide a forum for people to meet others in the GIS field, network, and pose GIS questions to a larger audience who have gone through a similar experience environmentally sustainable practices.Everyone in the community (students, teachers, administrators, alumni and parents) is invited to be a part of the Environmental Club.HighlightsThe Environmental Club initiated a school-wide recycling program and placed bins in every classroom, meeting room and office, installed solar panels on the school roof, organized a school-wide assembly and year-long activities centered on climate change education, and have initiated plans to install a wind turbine on the school.Events:The club meets between two to four times per month depending on the time of year. Most meetings center around the seasons activities, projects and future endeavors. My name is Joseph Yilleng Titus. I am a graduate of geology and mining from university of Jos plateau state of Nigeria . Everyone can agree that I am a hardworking, innovative, and passionate about sustainable development goals especially poverty eradication programs and I want to reduce the visibility of dirt in our environment as the major description of poverty globally . My vision is to see the communities around the world as a clean and safest place to stay, irrespective of our financial status . I am going to be part of this sustainable development because my goal is to teach these in future and to become a respected professional in environmental protection .I can say that I am a responsible and a hard-working person .I enjoy my time at field working : it is really nice to study the environment. I like to receive and deal with challenging tasks. I am a very enthusiastic person and I think this is a strong point of mine.To add up to this as an individual, giving back to my community have been a paramount and important goal of all my struggles in life. While growing up as a child I have seen so many projects by different organizations trying to eradicate poverty in the world. But I always ask my self can we empower people financially and still forget the visibility of poverty as dirtiness, hedonism, and self-centeredness attitude of humans towards our environment. To eradicate poverty visibility, we must develop love and law for we live. We can never talk about poverty in sustainable development without talking about the environment people living in abject poverty live in. Lack of clean and safe environment endangers people livelihoods, that leads to poverty: drug and substance abuse(alcoholism),mental illness.etc.
