Universal ARVs Database (UNIAD)
Explain your idea in details:
UNIAD is the software that will be used in hospitals that offer ART services in Malawi to people living with HIV/AIDS. UNIAD will be working in the way that, once a person is tested and confirmed HIV positive he can be registered at the hospital of testing and start ART services but he will have any opportunity to get ARVs and all ARTS at any hospital of his choice since he will be in the system country wide that is within Malawi. That means, all people living with HIV/AIDS in Malawi will be able to receive the ART services at any hospital they want once are in the system. The main objectives of UNIAD are: 1. To make the ART services accessed easily since some clients defualt because of in accessibility. 2. To increase reach in the way that, you can choose to get ARVs at any hospital you want compared to the old system of just getting ARVs to the hospital of registration. 3. Reduce distance to people living with HIV/AIDS since they can access the services at any hospital of their choice. 4. Performance oriented. UNIAD will be able to show how the ARVs are working and how many people living with HIV/AIDS have been switched to another regime. UNIAD activities will be: 1. I collection of ARVs of all clients who are HIV positive. 2. Viral load collection for every new client and routine viral load. 3. Switching of ARVs regimen and other ART services. UNIAD innovative approaches: 1. Windows App 2. National ART cloud server Database 3. Ministry of Health (MoH) 4. Lighthouse Trust Universal ARVs Database will improve the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS as the services will be accessed easily and everywhere in Malawi hospitals that offer ART services for a better positive living.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Universal ARVs Database has been developed in targeting people living with HIV/AIDS in Malawi. UNIAD will help people living with HIV/AIDS not to default to the services since all the people living with HIV/AIDS will have an opportunity to receive the services at any hospital of their choice within Malawi that offer ART services. There by increasing the number of people accessing the ART Services and less defaulters. If people living with HIV/AIDS have been put in care, the development of my country Malawi a can change such that more people will be health and contributing to the work of the country hence boost the economy of the country. Besides the fact that economy will be improved, their lives also will change because if they are healthy they will be able to develop their homes and changing the lives of others too. UNIAD will also help in sustainable development in the way that, once a person is HIV Positive and has been put in care that is he has started taking ARV,he will be healthy and have an opportunity to continue education where he can learn on how to make a world a better place by telling people to find ways how they can prevent from contracting the HIV virus. On how to evaluate success, UNIAD could be evaluated in the following ways 1. Increase in the number of people who are on ART treatment. UNIAD will help more people to be on treatment because they can get ARVs at the hospital of their choice where they feel comfortable there by increase the number of people. 2. User friendly. UNIAD has been designed to be used in a simpler way so that those to be trained will not have some challenges when want to use it and help clients. 3. Defaulters will be reduced
Plans for implementation and sustainability
UNIAD has to be implemented by Ministry of health and other partners. Partners like lighthouse Trust and also Elizabeth Graiser Pediatric AIDS. The business model can be done by having agreed with network providers like Airtel where I will have an account. Once the system is using the internet because it will be used online the money will be in my account b That money could be used for maintenances and other improvements of the system. The financing source could be partners and also the money that could be collected from the system when being used. That money will have to be kept for the work of the project to be sustainable. UNIAD will collaborate with Ministry of health and also other partners who want to use the system for the improvements of it's working capabilities and also improving the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS. WHO can also approached to collaborate with UNIAD since it's aim is to improve lives of people living with HIV/AIDS for better Malawi.
I am Francis Limbani born on 15 April 1990 and I am 29 years old. I am a malawian by Nationality. Currently I live in Dedza district Central Malawi. I have Certificate in HIV Testing and Counselling given by Ministry of Health. Currently am working with Lighthouse Trust as HIV Diagnostic Assistant (HDA) at Mtendere community Hospital in Dedza district Central Malawi. Francis Limbani being working as HDA, I've seen how people living with HIV and AIDS find it difficult when it comes to get ARVs when they are not registered to that hospital. So this made me to think and come up with ideas to solve this problem and other problems like, distance, accessibility, confidentiality, limited health rights and other problems. This motivated me to come up with UNIAD. Currently It's my dream and my wish to be recognized with this innovation so that my wish to help people living with HIV and AIDS can be fulfilled.
