Explain your idea in details:
This project is more than necessary, due the many materials that the human species pour in hydrous bodies. The use of disposable materials have grown a lot, due to its practicality, once you can use it just once and then throw away. Thinking about it, Rebicycle will be constructed with reused recyclable materials (plastic bottles for exemple), with the intent of no generation of demand, using just what was already thrown away, and also aiming to not using lubrificant oils as well. Our general objetive is to built an aquatic vehicle, powered by human propulsion (like a pedal boat), that with two conveyor belts will remove the superficial material.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
With this project, we hope that the city in general (besides the improvement of the environmental quality) begins to visualize the connection between human and environmental damage, and also the feeling of building a well-functioning environment and how that changes their lives. Our targets are projecting an vehicle with reused recyclable materials, construct the vehicle, promote an agreement or financing with the city hall or an private financier, perform courses and lectures, promote the correct discard of the collected materials, keep the environment clean and healthy, promote Environmental Education in schools, and promote activities related to well being and heath. The results are important to avaluate the project, to know if it worked in fact. We hope to remove as much solid waste as possible from the water, improve the quality of life of the population in need, avoiding the death of aquatic animals due to ingestion of waste, significantly reducing the amount of garbage floating where they should not be, increase the income of the population due to shortage of fish, giving an option of extra income for families that can act both in their production and in the rent of the Rebicycle for tourists.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
To pay those who will work in the construction and renting of Rebicycle we expect an agreement or financing with the city hall or an private financier, so the workers in need will get an extra money and help the environment. We as ambientalists, by improving this project, look for minimum demand as possible, and no waste of materials. Nowadays similar projects are basically driven by combustion engine which made it necessary to reflect the impact on the atmosphere and the contribution with global warming. Thinking about it, our idea wouldn't need an engine to move our contraption, the human being ends up being our main actor so that everything work. The advantage of having a mechanism that works in the cleaning of a resource moved 100% by human force it puts in agenda the exclusion of an important agent impacting in the terrestrial atmosphere and having a bicycle that moves in the water and still helps to preserve the environment, reinforces the connection of human being and nature, which should never have been lost.
Gabriella Jaehn Troina (20) born in Valença (Bahia/BR), where she had the first contact with environmental projects from a field trip in school. From there came the inspiration to become part of something related to the environment, and so she currently studies Technology in Environmental Management at the Federal University of Rio Grande. Giovanna Soares (20) lived in Indaiatuba (São Paulo/BR) until 2017, she got inspired when she became a vegan at the age of 18, where she began to worry about the environment and how it is being despised more and more in Brazil and in the world. Because of that she joined the course Tecnology in Environmental Management at the Federal University of Rio Grande, moving to the south of the country. Gabriella had the idea by watching a video of a similar project where the vehicle was moved by an engine, and had a lot of smoke and polluents; an the other one was moved by solar energy, so the question was, "can i built a vehicle that don't need power but still can move solid waste from lakes?". Then she had a class named "Elaboration and Evaluation of Environmental Projects" where she started working with Giovanna to put this project in action.
