According to the CAF World Giving Index, the proportion of people across the world who donated money in 2017 is still at its lowest level since 2013. This finding reflects the urgent need of restructuring the way in which donations are made and incentivized. Moreover, following 2013 Cone Communications/Echo Global CSR Study findings, 91% of Americans believe organizations should tell them how they are supporting causes, but many do not think they are getting sufficient information. Only 58 percent of Americans believe companies are providing enough details about their cause efforts. By connecting these studies, we saw the opportunity of boosting worldwide donations by developing a complete transparent donation platform able to build trust on donors through simple uncover need, making them really know the background and situation of who they are donating to. Therefore, TrueAid platform will be accessible through a mobile app and website. Where the donor will have to sign in and create its own profile. TrueAid will display a world map with the different geographic regions where the TrueAid is required. By accessing to a specific geographic region, you will have access to a list (ranked from highest to lowest TrueAid urgency) showing some initial information of the person as picture, age, health condition and what TrueAid is needed. By opening its profile, you will have further information on its background (birth place and date, family members, past diseases, etc.) and most importantly, here you will have the option to decide what exact TrueAid you would donate (5 medicine boxes, a knee prosthesis, etc.). Once the donation is made, this person will be added to your TrueAid family and you will have the possibility to track how their health conditions keep evolving and even access them more directly for future donations.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
As 2016 Label Insight Transparency ROI Study showed, 73% of the 2000 customers surveyed said they were willing to pay more for a product/service that promises total transparency and even 39% of their sample said they would switch to a new brand in the pursuit of product/service transparency. In this way, TrueAid will provide the additional transparency that could make that 73% of the population to donate higher amounts of money and even attract donors from other donation platforms to ours. According to NP Source Charitable Giving Statistics, Americans online giving was of $31 billion in 2017. If the implementation of TrueAid transparent service made that online giving to only increase by 1%, we would increase the overall Americans donation by $310 million. Now imagine its worldwide effect
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Due to the intrinsic solidary nature of the project the initial business model will be based in covering the development and maintenance costs by crowd founding. Moreover, once the platform will reach a considerable number of users, it could embody a add sponsor business model based on related industries as international volunteering companies or eco-friendly products. The service will be offered for free to the different worldwide NGOs, who will be in charge of administering the information of the people they take care of. In order to ensure that they provide real information they will be signing compliance agreements which will be corroborated by sporadic in-site controls by TrueAids crew.
