Tomato Berries in Pakistan
Explain your idea in details:
Pakistan is one of the countries which are based on their agricultural economy. There are finely fertile lands in Pakistan. The quality of crop that we produce in Pakistan is known worldwide. Economic structure of our country is also based on Agriculture. But due to misuse of our natural resources and political issues, there has been a dramatically change in the agricultural industry of Pakistan. Tomatoes are being used daily at a very high rate. We get a huge amount of tomatoes from India. Recently due to some political issues India stopped to export tomatoes to Pakistan and eventually the price of tomatoes increased multiplicatively. This situation let me to an idea to grow tomatoes in Pakistan but in a smart way so that we can produce more tomatoes in lesser area. In this way the yield rate will increase and lesser land will produce more tomatoes.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Pakistan is an agricultural country and it is the backbone of the country. I have an idea of farming F-I Hybrid of Tomatoes (Tomato Berries) in Pakistan. These tomatoes grow on veins and the yield rate is comparatively higher than plum tomatoes. If we grow more tomato in Pakistan it will fulfill the demand of population and increase the economy by exporting it to other non-agricultural countries. We need to import the seeds and the farming period is around 60 days. The cost of planting them will also be reduced if we use drip-irrigation system. Hence if we work on it more and do further research there are always chances to improve it.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
It let me to explore more into types of tomatoes and then I found the F1 Hybrid of Tomatoes. It requires the same temperature that is the average temperature of Pakistan that is why it is suitable to grow in Pakistan as well. Tomato Berries are smaller in size than a regular Plum Tomato. They grow on veins. There are three times more tomatoes on its plant than a regular tomato plant. So its higher yield rate can give us more profit and fulfil the need of tomatoes in Pakistan. So we need these resources for implementation of the project. The major challenges to be faced shall be the successful import of the right quality of seeds that we have to sow in our field. Because poor quality shall destroy or project completely. One more issue is of water because water is already endangered in Pakistan. So we have to use it carefully that is why I introduced the concept of drip irrigation in our project. Another challenge is to keep our cost low so that we can compete in local market with a new product.
