Best Ideas 2019 features all the nominated entries submitted under ‘Submit your Idea’ category. All the entries consist of innovative solutions or propositions for an enterprise that champions the Sustainable Development Goals. They can be on the conceptual, planning, or start-up stage.
Explain your idea in details:
The main objective in my idea is: After the first 6 months of launch to have a working experimental group in a local school /and controll groups / participating in a music room, where students learn to express themselves through music /practice the piano, sing, practice other instuments/ as a music therapy through which to connect to their unique personalities. The approach is lying on the methodology of the music therapy developed by Tony Wigram, Mary Priestly, Randy Rolvsjord, etc. The innovative approach is that in Bulgaria such a tactic has not been used to broaden children's knowledge.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
> In a year of the launch of the idea, music room can increase chances of students participating in the program to finish with better grades the school year > In 6 months of launch of the program, the children with disturbing behavious will have significant improvement and will report increased interest to school subject, including attendence The above mentioned objectives will be monitored and evaluated through a controll group of students who do not participate in the program alongside with test before and after the program. These objectives aim to support Millenium development goals 3 and 4 related to Health and Education - two of the most problematic Goals for Bulgaria.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
At the begining I intend to develop the Music Room entirely on my own. Finincing is not necessary at the begining, except for buying some interesting instruments, supporting roma inclusion and cultural diversity, although the budget will not be high for this. Main collaborators are the school principal, teachers, parents and the children themselves. Copmmunication to ensure smooth progress of the program includes talking to school principal about the idea, about the plan to realize it, ensuring the school has main music instruments such as piano, violine, or drums; speaking with parents to allow children to participate and informing about the behavior, attendance and performance of the children.
I am born on November 1986, in Sofia, Bulgaria. I play the piano since the age of six and I have strong interest in music therapy. I am a masters in slavic philology, currently finilizing my PhD in Public Sociology. I have ten years of experience in communications for different organizations, including UNICEF and Trade Unions. I believe this will be very supportive to develop marketing strategy to turn my idea into social enterpreneurship. A a piano player I have performed in front of large audiences and have won first prize in international contest. I am feeling the extrinsic and intrinsic benefits of playing the piano, so I know for sure that this is not just a dream. On the other hand, sociology helps me to consider ways in which researches can support the development of the Music room, so as to prove that there are efficient results with SMART objectives (simple, measurable, achievable, research based and with strict timeline).
