Food chemistry Sugar sticks
Explain your idea in details:
Summary: The short summary of my work is, I replaced the wood and plastic sticks with sugar sticks for mixing the tea. My sticks lies in two categories: Diabetic patients and for normal people. The diabetic people will use ticks made up of sucrose and normal people use sticks made up of simple table sugar. I decided to start my work from small scale like my house. The target areas are Universities, cafes, street small tea shops. I have to face no challenges because the cost of my stick is very low in comparison with wood sticks and plastic spoons. The major advantage is we can reduce the cutting of tress for making wood sticks and can stop the production of non-biodegradable plastic spoon by replacing them with sugar sticks
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Cost: My one sugar stick costs only 0.8Rupee (without profit) and with profit it costs 1.25 rupee. This illustration is for table sugar sticks. For the sucrose sticks it costs more because, sucrose is much expensive than table sugar. Table sugar is 60 rupee per kg and sucrose is 186 rupee per kg. Hence from 1kg of both sugars i made 200 sticks. 1 kg of sugar have 1000grams and 1 spoon contains 5grams. So 200 sticks from 1kg/1000grams sugar. First I will start it from small scale as an Entrepreneurship and my target area will be universities, small cafes, colleges and street tea cafes.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
International practice: As my sticks are totally hygienic and free of side effects. I can export them as my little business in all over the world or different countries can also produce them on large scale. Implementation in Pakistan: Firstly I want to start this idea as little business from my country on small scale after that on large scale.
Im making sugar sticks to replace the wood sticks and plastic spoons, as these are disadvantageous to our health and we can also see the cost criteria of wood sticks is also so high in comparison to sugar sticks. Well the weak point that support my idea is cutting of trees for making wood sticks and their industrial cost, also the cancer causing by plastic spoons. So by knowing all these facts I have to face no challenges.
