LIVRE: An application to turn cities into an accessible place.
Explain your idea in details:
Accessibility is considered an essential and fundamental requirement for social inclusion. It is directly linked to the quality of life for all citizens, not just people with disabilities. However, in relation to accessibility, in spite of all the advances that people with disabilities have achieved in the last decades, through Laws, Decrees and Decrees, they still face numerous difficulties, especially regarding to access to the physical means of cities . I emphasize, between these situations the absence of access ramps, uneven and bumpy sidewalks, cars parked irregularly, among others. In face of the numerous difficulties that people with disabilities and reduced mobility find to get around in the urban centers, Livre was conceived as a mobile application for smartphones whose main purpose is to promote accessibility in urban centers, exposing and mapping places that stand out negatively in this question. If the user of Livre is faced with a situation in which their right to come and go is denied or impaired, this user can report what happened through photos, videos and testimonies, and thus provide a transformation in the cities, making them accessible and inclusive. In order to generate a mapping of the inaccessibility of our cities it will be possible to mark the exact location of the problem through geolocation technology. Livre will seek partnerships with the public sector, such as municipal government, so that our users complaints can be verified and solved, and thus contribute to more accessible and inclusive cities. A Livre differential is its concern with the accessibility and usability of its interface, so that its public can use of the easiest way possible, independent of its difficulties.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Accessibility is a right and a necessity for all people, regardless of their condition, and is fundamental to the process of social inclusion. Because of that, and in the face of disrespect to the laws urban accessibility, we saw the opportunity to develop Livre. It is hoped that Livre will become a relevant instrument in the improvement of urban mobility, which will make it possible to deepen the theme of accessibility and social inclusion, to make a transformation in relation to mobility / urban accessibility, and also become a communication factor and information of great importance for people with disabilities, reduced mobility and society in general to take ownership of the city.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Livre aims to provide a more inclusive and accessible city for all, especially those with some type of physical disability or difficulties of locomotion. With the contribution of the users themselves, Livre will be a space for denouncing problems with accessibility in urban centers. From that, partnerships with the public sector were devised so that all reported denunciations could be solved, and provide the main objective of Livre, a city for all.
My name is Lucas, I am a 23 year old Brazilian. I graduated in Advertising. Being a wheelchair user, I have experienced since childhood the serious accessibility problems of urban centers and the difficulties of getting around them. So I know the importance of a more egalitarian and inclusive city for its citizens, and I hope the Livre app can contribute to it.
