Using the power of art for livelihood and safer environment
Explain your idea in details:
The main objectives of this idea are as follows; 1. Provide alternatives for use of plastic bags. This will help to save the environment from being littered with plastic bags; this will make our land look cleaner and people will save money since they will not use a lot of money to buy plastic bags every time they go shopping 2. Provision of jobs to fellow young people; through the making of shopping bags and other art material such as gift bags, fellow youth will be taught the skill in order to earn a living form the venture.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The venture is expected to employ about ten people in six months, and gradually grow the number as it grows, and it plans to make about 100 environmentally safe shopping bags in the same period of time.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Implementation will include introducing the idea and product to the supermarkets, recruitment and training of youth and advocating for the total ban of the plastic paper bags use. In addition, collaboration efforts will be made with other like minded partners in the country to advance the cause, including engaging government officials in the responsible Ministry and the private sector so that they can recognise the essence of saving the environment and giving youth a chance to be part of the solution to some of the country's economic and social problems. Sustainability will be measured through the establishment and total recognition of the brand of the products in super markets and other entities because the demand will be created and will continue. In addition, youth will keep earning income from it, therefore contributing to reducing unemployment levels in the country

I am currently still studying for my first Degree in Managing Rural and Community Development, and working in the INGO sector focusing on youth, women and girls...
