Plastic Cleaner App (PC App)

The major cause of marine pollution is due to the dumping of waste along coastlines, littering on beaches, and the breaking down of ships. Floods and other storm-related events flush this waste into the sea, where it sinks or is carried away by currents. Marine pollution also causes biodiversity loss and hampers ecosystem functions and services. An estimated 8 million tons of plastic waste enter the worlds oceans each year. I am currently working towards SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL 14 - Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. I had invented a robot called M-Bot Cleaner,Marine Robot Cleaner which intends to provide vital protection,in a sustainable manner to the marine habitats as it removes the waste from the surface of the water bodies which facilitates cleaner waters and improved marine life. Plastic Cleaner App along with the Marine Robot Cleaner will overcome this major issue and also save the marine species from being extinct. The app will scan the plastics floating on the water surface and automatically send a signal to the Robot to start collecting the wastes from the seas.. Description The M-Bot Cleaner Robot will be available on the coastlines and in different locations across the seas and oceans. Plastic Cleaner app is designed to automatically send signals to the Marine Robot Cleaners that is floating on various locations on the rivers/seas/oceans. As soon as the signal from the Plastic Cleaner App reaches the nearest Marine Robot Cleaner it moves to that particular location in the ocean or river to collect the plastic wastes. As soon as the water surface is cleaned completely of plastics, the app will send a signal to the Robot to stop its cleaning process.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Justification Tiny particles of plastics, microbeads plastics, hardly visible to the naked eye, flow straight into the worlds oceans. Sea animals like fish, sharks and turtles absorb or eat micro plastics beads. These microbeads are passed along the marine food chain. Since humans are ultimately at the top of this food chain, it is likely that we are also ingest them. Micro plastics beads are not biodegradable and once they enter the marine environment, they are impossible to remove. So my app and robot will clean the microbeads as well as plastic pieces floating on the water surface.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
I have also designed an App, Plastic Cleaner App to control my robot remotely. Plastic Cleaner App along with the Marine Robot Cleaner will overcome this major issue and also save the marine species from being extinct. The app will scan the plastics floating on the water surface and automatically send a signal to the Robot to start collecting the wastes from the seas/oceans. Applicability: PC App can be applied to the real world by fishermen and navy officers who move around in the seas and oceans. Impact: The plastic pollution will be greatly reduced and in turn our marine ecosystems will be saved considerably thereby causing no harm to our food chain.

I spread awareness about the need to protect, conserve and preserve the earths resources and reduce, reuse and recycle wastes and Say No to plastics. I am a Drop It Youth Ambassador and an active member of Emirates Environmental Group,EEG. I have persuaded many students to rethink plastics as they are not our bodys best friend as it affects both marine species and our health.
