Best Ideas 2019 features all the nominated entries submitted under ‘Submit your Idea’ category. All the entries consist of innovative solutions or propositions for an enterprise that champions the Sustainable Development Goals. They can be on the conceptual, planning, or start-up stage.
Explain your idea in details:
The Scapade app is a mobile platform where users can connect with each other to experience a foreign city with confidence, make new friends with locals and other travelers, and share incredible memories - all while empowering them to travel sustainably.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The app will be free to use - ad space will be sold to relevant partners and distributed via email marketing and push notifications. Moving forward - an in-app booking system will be offered as well as a premium model with loyalty program (points) and Scapade badges which will let users know that you have met someone on the app and you both agreed it was a positive experience. We will be aligning with restaurants, attractions, and tour operators in NYC to launch. Success measures will be evaluated via KPIs like user retention, new signups, and activity analyses.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
The mission of Scapade is to be a tool that allows travelers to connect in a more meaningful way to locals in the area and other travelers. Additionally, partnering with local businesses and offering volunteer opportunities for short-term visitors are highlights of what we are hoping to accomplish. Its really about facilitating more culturally immersive experiences and easing the social anxiety of meeting new people.
I have 8 years experience working in the tourism and travel industry as well as e-commerce & digital marketing experience. My strengths over this period of time have shown to be in strategic planning and site development/optimization to promote customer acquisition and retention. I have worked with multiple platforms from proprietary to commonly used and have proven skills in project management and developer relations. I pride myself in being a good manager and collaborator, while being self-motivated on a daily basis. I have led teams in 3 hackathons which won awards respectively in product development, marketing, and customer centricity. Recently, I was also featured in Forbes as one of the female founders to follow on LinkedIn and would like to make use of that platform to help in developing the growing presence of female leaders in the industry.
