Knowledge Empowers You (KEY)
Explain your idea in details:
In the aftermath of the fourteen years of civil conflict in my country, every major sector (health, education, economic, social and academic) must be rebuilt. These difficulties impact the youth even more than any other population. While struggling to recover from such trauma, the system had to later face the deadly Ebola outbreak leading to a death toll of over a thousand people. We believe that the most pressing challenge currently in Liberia has to do with the lack of quality education. Currently, the country faces a huge setback in terms of Education especially with regards to skills training, leadership, entrepreneurship.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
We believe the future of education is online therefore, we hope to use technology to solve real word problems. Currently, we host weekly online talk shows, motivational sessions, and dialogues about burning issues and topics that are relevant to society. This project also aims to empower young Liberian to become better entrepreneurs. The project will be creating training programs for youth every six months especially since most young people do not have the slightest idea about what a computer does or how a computer could be of impact to the betterment of our society. We hope to create training that involves coding, web development, graphic designs, etc. People who are registered through our online platform will have access to their personalized blogs, access to webinars, be able to create and start their own business venture that will help empower the local community. The platform will also teach young leaders how to take advantage of every available opportunity that will create an impact on the lives of others. Education is fundamental to every society's growth and development, therefore, we envision a society where education is accessible to all.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Our plan for implementing this project is to create an online blogging website where people can create accounts/register with us. When registered, you will be able to access our online activities and other helpful resources. Our editorial team will review works and assess the credibility and help make users work stand out when published. Our social media marketer will be responsible for marketing our platform in ways that will attract like minds to have access to our facilities. Our model of sustainability has to do with people being charged a minimum amount when registering their blog and having access to our blogging resources. When registered, they will also have the opportunity to choose training(graphic design, coding, leadership, writing, etc) of their interest. This amount will be helpful in term of upgrading the platform, creating new programs, and helping the users have the best experience as possible. The stories of our users will also be used in a way that would attract others to our platform and facilities.
