SMART TAP SYSTEM

Focus area, Name of project Prototype designed in our school ATL lab based on sustainable development gaol no.3 good health and well being and goals,no.6 i:e Clean water and Sanitation.This prototype aims to segregate clear water from dirty water,so named SMART TAP SYSTEM.Problem Identified:In area Shakurpur Anandwas,Delhi-110034,we encountered the water related problem.Sometimes the dirty water gets mixed with the clean water,while filling the bucket due to which one has to discard with the entire bucket of filled water.This is leading to the wastage and scarcity of the clean portable water Engaged with member to identify the problem and develop the solution-In our school, a lady guard, Lakshmi is facing with similar problem in her locality,which she reported to us.Her water related problem is mixing of clean and dirty water.There they need to check constantly whether the water coming is clean or not. Due to sudden mixing of dirty water they have to discard with so far filled portable water. We visited the place and after interacting with the locals, found that every house in the society is facing same except those who can afford with water purifier system.Mixing of dirty water is leading to the health problems.We have got these samples of water tested in our school chemistry lab for physical turbidity and chemical impurity.Explain why your innovation is different from existing solution-As per our knowledge there is no such device designed so far that detects water through MCDpipes as clear water and dirty water and thereby drive it to different channels to collect.Although we have various water purification units in the market to check on TDS level and PH level of water,but they can work only on clear water in the pipe line.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Objective of our prototype is to detect and check on mixing of dirty water with the clear water during the continuous flow through the pipe line.Mixing of dirty water with clear water may be due to various reasons, such as broken pipe lines or some kind of leakage during filtration process at treatment plant itself The water enters through main pipeline and get through the sensor system . This pipe then divides into two different channels as Left and Right, ending to outlet-taps.Water through these channels is controlled via two solenoid valves. Water is let to flow through the pipe only when solenoid valve is switched to ON mode, else no flow. Opening and closing of solenoid valve is controlled by Arduino board and Relay switch. Right tap is open to deliver Clear water during default position of relay (OFF) and Left tap opens to deliver Dirty water when Relay is switched ON.Additional LED (yellow) is connected across the Relay switch to indicate its ON/ OFF conditition.White LED is fixed in front of LDR sensor to illuminate the pipe inside and its light intensity is controlled via resistance in its series. This system proves to be the milestone as it will ease the life of large number of people living in different parts of world. Especially in developing countries where construction takes place Every now and then.If implemented it will be able to successfully carry out SDG goal 3 and 6 worldwide.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Further development in the project Initially we used LDR as light sensors to check the variation in the light intensity of water now we had employed Various other sensors like TDS, Turbidity, odour,etc. We discovered that LDR available in the market comes with different dark resistant so we made a standard system that works with every water conditions. We therefore look forward to seek industrial help using ultrasonic sensor and expect variation in the frequency of reflected sound to change effectively with the physical changes in water properties to make system more efficient. As stated this project is under NITI Aayog, Government of India. And we are in collaboration with various government agency for testing and implementation purposes. For technical and corporate support we are funded by NITI Aayog, government of India , IBM, Dell EMC and learning links foundation, India. Currently we have developed a 10 months bussiness model and it was implemented on January this year. By the end of this 10 month we will start with marketing and scale production of prototype. I am a high school passout student. In 2017 I came up with a public notification by Atal Innovation mission, NITI Aayog, government of India stating that the government ministry is selecting schools all over the india to set up tinkering labs. Till that time I haven't heard what tinkering is and nothing called Innovation was known to me. I was asked by one of my teacher to contribute some ideas so that our school could win the contest and get tinkering lab. Unfortunately the idea suggestion given by me was not that much worth and we started working on new ideas finally the results were announced and our School was first among few schools to get tinkering labs. From there the real journey started till now I work in lab for 12 - 15 hours a day on my projects. In 2018 I participated in Atal tinkering marathon 2018 competition where we were supposed to submit ideas that works on SDG by United nations. There we worked on Smart Tap System and fortunately we were announced as the winner of the contest and our project acquired first position and the work was recognised by various government ministries, NITI Aayog, government of India. I participated in world Robotics Olympiad 2018 where I was the national winner and got opportunity to represent India at international level at Thailand. I also worked on projects under AIM-SIRIUS INNOVATION FESTIVAL 2018 where our team presented our projects to Honourable prime minister of India Narendra Modi and his Excellency President of Russia Vladimir Putin. United Nations (UNICEF) has recognised me as Young innovator for my projects.I was selected for internship at IBM. Recently I am working as internee at Atal Incubation center, BIMTECH. From July ownwards I will be employed at Dell EMC as internee.
