Tanzania is one among list of developing national where access to health care services still a big challenge to its people. Together with high prevalence of morbidity and mortality of infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria. Non-communicable diseases(NCDs) still are the world leading causes of death: They were responsible for an estimated 41 million (73%) of 56 million deaths in 2017. Many of those deaths were premature (i.e. under the age of 70 years old) and occurred in the and middle-income countries (WHO 2019). Determined risk factors includes unhealthy eating pattern, lifestyle and obesity. Objectives 1. To improve nutritional knowledge, behaviors, attitudes and practices in the country 2. To converge/platform for youth professionals and documentary with world trending, research and/ updates on food, nutrition and health throughout life course for better prevention and management of diseases. 3. To promote public education and easy access to health and nutrition information 4. End the rise in diabetes and obesity 5. Relative reduction in the prevalence of raised blood pressure and cancer 6. Reduction in the mean population intake of salt/sodium, saturated fat, trans fat and sweeteners 7. Decrease prevalence of overweight and obesity among Tanzanian of productivity age (youth) 8. Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The targets audiences are young of secondary and high school, youth of collage and universities and young adult at work places( government and private institution) of all sex. We aim to implement this project to the mentioned groups to ensure good health and well-being for work efficient, increased performance and decreased disabilities and absenteeism at work or school for globe economic growth and development. The target audiences will lead to increased coverage and transmission of information to the communities both illiteracy and literacy.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
The implementation of the project involves young professionals and talented youth to transform their peer and communities from unhealthy living, lifestyle and chronic diseases to health eating habit, lifestyle and free from diseases. We love to giveback to the community by saving their health and nutritional status . The EAT RIGHT Magazine main goal is to converge/platform for youth professionals and documentary with world trending, research and/ updates on food, nutrition and health throughout life course for better prevention and management of diseases. We welcome partnerships,collaborators, investors, sponsors to make the world better place for all.
Arafa E. Mkumbo is F/28 years old, a Nutritionist at Muhimbili National Hospital- Tanzania, she received her bachelor degree of science in Human Nutrition from Sokoine University of Agriculture, 2015. Ms Mkumbo conducted a research on prevalence of overweight and obesity among employees and non-employee in Temeke District Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania 2015 what driven her to innovate this Magazine. Ms Mkumbo worked in Mwanzo Bora Nutrition Program as Project Nutritionist Morogoro Municipal 2015-2017, the project funded by USAID aiming to reduce child and maternal anaemia and stunting in children in the country (Tanzania).
