Explain your idea in details:
Have you ever lost the keys of your safe or rooms? Do you find managing keys troublesome? Comprehend the following scenario, Mr. Rajesh owns a big jewelry showroom in Varanasi, he got many employees working there and 15 safes. Some of the safe have key-locking system while some opens through passwords. So there is a lot for him to do in key management. Sometimes he forgets where he kept the keys of some safes and very often it is very hectic for him to remember the password of the password based safes. At rush hours it is nearly chaotic for him to keep a clear record which safe his accessed by which employ at a particular instant. He has also faced the problem of losing keys, which is regretful. Moreover, security is a major concern for him too. So here our qLock service comes into the play Smart, Safe and Secure. With Dynamic passcode facility, every time the user wishes to open the safe a random new password is set for the lock using OTP mechanism. So the user doesn't need to remember any passwords also as it has no physical dependency(static keys) involved, therefore, no worries for key management.qLock also provides multi-user accessibility ,means owner can effectively choose who can be granted access to his locks and with a tracking feature which sends the id of the person who is opening the lock and for how much time, a clear record of the users accessing the safe can be conveniently kept.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Our ultimate target is to relieve our consumers from any key management and added stress they have to face; increase their expectations from their locking system and meet them. At present, our target markets are hotels, banks and jewelry shops and we aim to extend it to other incorporations, individuals units and everywhere where security is a major concern. At hotels when we check in, a lot of time is consumed in setting the passwords of the safe allocated to us in the room which is quite hectic for the guests. Our service encounters this out since no time of the guest is spent in setting the password as it is randomly self-generated. Moreover when we talk about locks on the room doors which mainly open through keys or cards granted to the guests. Sometimes this key/card is lost, stolen or guests takes it away with them, so this is a concern for hotel management too. This issue is also resolved as we don't rely on any physical key so no worry. The user tracking feature is very resourceful at places where security is a major concern like banks, jewelry shops, etc.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
We have two models for our service one is to provide it to the consumer along with a safe inbuilt and second is to implant our service in the existing safe at the consumer sites. We are planning to expand our motto of doing out the current key-lock system present in the market with both ways possible. For providing it as inbuilt in a safe we are in a talk with some local safe making incorporations of our state, and to the implant our system in the existing safe we are studying their mechanism and figuring out how it could be done by us. More ever we are a part of the Cisco thingQbator program run by NASSCOM foundation to furnish startup ideas by providing guidance of experienced mentors.
I am Akash Verma,18 years old, student of IIT (BHU) Varanasi, pursuing my Btech in Chemical Engg. I love to explore new as well as the existing things in the surrounding, Of all my characteristics the soundest thing I have is being a dynamic observer. The motivation for this project is the atmosphere I was brought up, my father himself is a jeweler and owns a shop, so being a son of a jeweler I have closely seen my father experiencing most of the above-mentioned problems and scrutinized. This thing always keeps motivating me, as I am solving the problem of my own community, and nothing is better to solve a problem with which you have a lived. Its have been six months since we have started working on it we have presented qLock at Techfest IIT Bombay and have gained positive feedbacks there. We delegated this at Cisco Thingqbator Hackathon, where we were awarded the first position for our innovation.
