Our brand is a sustainable swimwear brand, later thinking of expanding also to sustainable beachwear.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
After gaining much of experience in the fashion area we have come to the conclusion that since fashion is the second most polluting industry but yet seems to be an unavoidable necessity for all humans action must be taken.All fast fashion industries have led people in buying more things that they actually need especially products in lower prices with much lower quality.We have decided to create a brand with sustainable swimwear made in Greece in order to minimize our environmental imprint through products carefully made by local workers offering high quality with much less cost to the environment yet supporting and increasing local activity of smaller entreprises and not only large fast fashion companies.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Fashion is considered to be the second most polluting industry in the world.With such a fast moving fashion environment and fast fashion chains we are led all these years in buying more and more products, not caring for quality, than we actually need. Leya aims to be a brand with swimwear made from exclusively sustainable and recycled materials and less chemicals needed for production. We aim not only to attrect people that love fashion but also those who alongside care for the envrionment and have environmental awareness. Based on researches swimwear share will reach around 28.15billion dollars until 2024. This share is large enough for things to happen. We mostly aim to attract the interest Millenials and Generation X, a generation that is believed to be the one that will save our future and has much to achieve in the next few years. Ou brand's general features are wellbeing, no fabric waste, transparency and traceability in production and suppliers as well as promoting our local market. We have prepared our main pitch-business model- and we for now wish to start at the beginning with our financing sources aiming though in attracting the interest for investments so as to be able to expand in foreign markets as well. We have recently won the third place in a local competition coming from a marketing agency offering us a package of a pretty much large amount in services like building our brand identity, marketing plan, social media as well as e-shop.
My name Is Penny and i am 35 years old. Together with Kostas , who is 33 years old , we have worked upon the idea of creating a sustainable swimwear brand.As for me, after pursuing a degree in Public administration i then decided to study fashion design and pattern making. I have been working since then as a fashion buyer for more than 10 years now having the chance of knowing every aspect of garments' and accessories production process. I have traveled in Asia and specifically in China where i had the opportunity of visiting many factories, monitor closely all production stages and interact with people working in development, design as well as production. The last year up to now i am working as a Product manager for a fast fashion retail company manufacturing and producing garments in Greece, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh,China etc. Next year i will be also pursuing an MBA degree so as to gain more knowledge upon management, leadership and economics something that i believe will help us through the process of building our brand. As for Kostas he owns a degree in Physics and he is also ready in pursuing a Master¨s degree next year in Economics as well.He is currently working as a product coordinator for a timber agency for the past 3 years till now. My experience upon fashion and Kosta's interest upon Physics, environment and sustainability led us to the idea of creating a sustainable brand with products made in Greece with love towards the environment and for the people creating these garments.
