Mechanized Clean Water Supply System for Four Deprived Communities in Nkwanta District in the Oti Re
Explain your idea in details:
The main aim of the project is to improve access and quality of water through a mechanised water distribution system powered by solar energy pumps. This project will reduce the time and effort spent by women and girls in search of clean water for household use using solar energy as a source of power to pump and distribute water to the communities. The key activities will include installation of the solar pumps, purchase and installation of water reservoirs, construction of water filtration and treatment plant, purchase and distribution of PVC pipes to household centre, the formation of a monitoring and supervision management team, training of maintenance committee members, funds manager who will collect tokens from residents to maintain the treatment plant and handing over activities.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
In connection with the SDGs goals 6, ie clean water and sanitation, a lack of access to safely manage water supplies and sanitation facilities hinder the social and economic development of a society. Increasing water efficiency and improving water management are critical to balancing competing and growing water demands from various sectors and users. It believed that once this water situation is resolved, it will ease the workload on especially women and girls who will otherwise have to walk long distances to fetch water for their household use, it will also save time for the women to use for other economic activities, improve education of the girls and reduce the disease burden of the family leading to more healthy people and community as a whole.
