Explain your idea in details:
By launching the Innov'Ecolo Douala concept, we commit ourselves : (1) to participate vigorously in the prevention of dirt; (2) to strengthen the public sanitation policies of the city of Douala and the promotion of sanitation; (3) to integrate environmental protection into the minds of citizens; (4) to create new opportunities for waste management (organic or plastic); (5) to combat endemic diseases. Our activities consist of: - Creating garbage points every 100 meters along boulevards and secondary roads; - Deploy volunteers to unload garbage cans to partner companies' garbage bins; - Organize awareness marches on environmental protection. Garbage collection in Douala is taboo and few people care about it. We believe that with our volunteers in the field, in Innov'ecolo's colors, visible garbage bins and attractive advertising, this innovative approach will push people into action.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
For us, organic and plastic waste is to be recovered to minimize the risk of pollution. Our major challenge is to participate in the transformation of waste into products that are useful to mankind, such as clean coal. That is why we want to become a partner with the companies working for this cause in Douala. To achieve the project, our targets are traders, who abound in the market streets. Street vendors who have no other landmarks than the sidewalk or roadway as a dump site. In some shopping centers too, we plan to innovate in the creation of waste disposal points. As measures, we have already begun to train young project leaders, whose service offerings focus on ecology and environmental protection. Among them, we chose two project leaders and together we intend to create iron garbage bag holders in order to ensure selective sorting from one space to another. The filling of the garbage bags that will be placed there, day after day, will be the indication that the concept is working. Clean roads will also be a sign of the long-term success of our campaign. The number of volunteers who will join the concept will also be a living proof of the interest that people will have in the project. Above all, seeing our waste transformed into clean coal will be an unparalleled victory.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
The success and the sustainability of this project is due to the willingness of our volunteers. In collaboration with municipalities and companies working on ecology, we are committed to determine a monitoring and evaluation system for the project, which will be provided by our executive office. Our methodology is based on intercultural management, in order to mobilize all the local communities. Our activities involve social mobilization. Moreover, from our ORIENTED training program, we energize our teams through capacity building. Dirt is the expression of an uneasiness, of the ambient impoverishment. For this project, our resources are intellectual and human. For financial resources, we provide a budget for awareness, equipment and training. We'll have: Volunteers 10 = 5000 $ / 12 months Production of 300 iron garbage bag holders = 6000 $ Travel in the city = 2000 $ / 12 months Communication = 700 $ Printing = 500 $ Rental of awareness spaces during Innov'Ecolo marches = 1000 $ Total Project Cost = 15200.00 $ Apart from the production of garbage bag holders and the movement of volunteers around the city, which require a subsidy, the association will take care of all the rest of the needs, in collaboration with its partners (mainly Start-ups and municipalities).
