Barrier Counter Interfacing Module
Explain your idea in details:
My idea and my project's sole purpose is to make it easier for the public or a driver entering or exiting a parking lot. The driver through this module of mine will know before entering the amount of cars present in the parking lot provided the maximum capacity of the parking lot is displayed alonsgside. Not only this, if implemented through relay ( electronic device popularly know as the magnetic switch) may also control the boom barrier automatically to bar the entrance permanently when the space is full and again opening it automatically when there is space again in the parking lot. My module works on token generation system. Suppose, when a driver is entering the parking lot, a token is generated alongwith the time of generation of the token. The token when generated at the entry gate cuts the laser which falls on the LDR (light dependent resistor) which upcounts the counter present in my module. Again, while exiting when he submits the token it again cuts the laser across the ldr in the same way downcounting the counter present in the module. The counter keeps the count and displays the same to the drivers entering giving them the idea that whether there is free space or not. [Counter Display(total no. of cars present)= No. Of Upcount - No. Of Downcount] Another advantage is that the exit gate could be anywhere and the downcounter will send the signal wirelessly to the main module present at the entry gate hence manupulating the count. Main part of my circuit consists of a bi-directional counter which attains it up count from one of the laser-ldr arrangement present at the entry gate(upcounter). Another part of my circuit is the transmitter at the exit gate and the receiver of the same at the entry gate(downcounter).
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
My project is aimed at mainly for all the boom barriers which are present in many of the parking lots in a building may it be public or private. I was hoping to collaborate with some company those who manufactures or sets up the boom barrier system for any public or private building or wherever required. If I am able to do that my module can be easily coupled with the system and if I could see that in practice that will also give me an insight for further implementations or improvements that can be done regarding my module by studying the boom barrier internal circuit minutely.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
If I could get in touch with any Government Engineering College to whom I can apply for financing this project and who has the boom barrier demonstration facility, which will help me to test my module and in presentating the business model of my module to various leading companies of boom barriers like Came India Automation Solutions Pvt. Ltd., they manufacture various types of boom barriers and out of many boom barrier manufacturing companies, Came's products are quite good.
Myself Aritra Das, I am 20 years old. Currently, I am pursuing my B.Tech. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering of which I have completed my Second Year. I come from a middle class family residing in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. My parents do have ample knowledge in their respective field of study but none in the field of Engineering, though their support is what has made me every inch of what I am now. My parents, some of my teacher and some of my close friends (My best friend was my partner in this project) are my motivation. I like to break apart any electronic device that has been damaged, or search the net for various circuits to get an idea of their working and further improvements, to learn from the failures due to various mistakes which I have made in real life which includes mistakes while making a circuit, losing competitions, not getting good scores in exams, and many others. If I ever get successful these lessons and the people who are my motivation is what will contribute to my success. I have taken part in various Tech Fests and in one such Tech Fest named Paridhi I have won 1st prize in one of the events. In school life I have got prizes for curricular and in extracurricular activities like drawing and swimming and also for participating in some NGO activities.
