Sky Palm Oil production and Distribution
Explain your idea in details:
Palm oil is a major food and non-food ingredient consumed by virtually everyone in Nigeria through the use of palm oil related products. This idea investigates the feasibility of small-scale palm oil processing in Nigeria, using Ibaa community , Rivers State as case study. Physical observations. Manual processing and screw hand press methods were adopted for palm oil extraction from fresh fruit bunch. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mode, frequencies and corresponding percentages and gross margin model) and profitability techniques (i.e Gross ratio, Expense Structure Ratio, rate of return and Benefit-Cost Ratio). The findings show that the average cost of procuring equipment and its installations for a small-scale palm oil processing mill were estimated at N875,700.00. The gross margin return from this study was N600,000.00 while net return was N35,000.00. The gross ratio reveals that for every N2.00 return to the mill 80.00 Kobe was spent on the production processes. The small-scale palm oil venture will be dominated by the youths and elderly people . The Idea show concludes that small-scale oil palm processing is profitable and will also be a source of employment. The oil winning process, in summary, involves the reception of fresh fruit bunches from the plantations, sterilizing and threshing of the bunches to free the palm fruit, mashing the fruit and pressing out the crude palm oil. The crude oil is further treated to purify and dry it for storage and export.Current technical innovations at the farm level are insufficient to promote sustainable oil palm production and to alleviate poverty because of overriding institutional constraints at the larger-than-farm level.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
In many developing countries, development in agriculture drives economic growth and offers a potential way out of poverty. Agricultural commodities not only fulfill the domestic basic need for food but also meet the demand of the global market by generating foreign exchange. The global demand for vegetable oil keeps increasing, not only due to food consumption but also for industrial uses such as cosmetics and bio fuel. Global consumption of vegetable oil in 2016 was 184.1 million tonnes, of which palm oil accounted for 38.7 percent. Other significant contributors to the global consumption are soybean oil (28.9 percent), rapeseed oil (15 percent) and sunflower seed oil (8.5 percent) (Statistic, 2017). Herefore, sustainability refers to not only environmental but also economic and social pillars. In an attempt to address sustainability, the United Nations (UN) published the report Our Common Future to develop a global common perspective with respect to the earth's future. The concept of sustainable development then emerged, focusing on economic and social development, and environmental protection to meet current needs without compromising future needs (UN, 1987.My idea will equally go a long way in providing job opportunity and alleviate poverty within Ibaa community and her environment;where by providing fresh vegetable oil,in the city and in the community for the good health of our citizens. Although not significantly different, Fresh Fruit Bunch yields tended to be higher in certified plantations than non-certified plantations. This result may reflect improved suitability of land selected for concessions as well as better plantation management. Mangrove and flooded forest land have been shown to be unsuitable for plantation development
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Although i intend starting out on a small scale by purchasing palm kernel from farmers, but that will not in any way stop us from maximizing our potential in the palm oil processing line of business. I hope to grow the business from purchasing palm kernel from farmers to owning my palm tree plantation and exporting palm oil to other countries in Africa and the world at large where people consume palm oil or make use of palm oil for the production of soap or body cream etc. my business goal as a palm oil processing business is to become the number one choice of households and petty traders in Nigeria and other countries of the world where i intend retailing our palm oil. As a business, i am willing to go the extra mile to invest in owning my own palm tree plantation and also to hire efficient and dedicated employees. I have been able to secure permits from all relevant departments both at local government level and in Rivers State. Ordinarily, i would have succeeded in running a palm oil processing business with few employees, but as part of our plan to build and sustain a top flight palm oil processing business in Ibaa Rivers State. I have perfected plans to get it right from the onset which is why I am going the extra mile to ensure that i have competent employees to occupy all the available positions in our company.I am going to go all the way to ensure that i do all it takes to sell my palm oil both in retail and wholesale to a wide range of customers who make use of palm oil.Sky palm production and distribution will generate income by simply selling palm oil.One thing is certain when it comes
