Formal Education and employment for Teen moms in Tanzania
Explain your idea in details:
This project execution will address a gender inequality as well as rights to education for teenage moms in Tanzania in a manner never achieved before. While girls are allowed to go to school, teenage moms fail to go back to public schools. This forces them to fail to get any education at all or force them to settle for vocational training only. Most projects across the country equip girls with artisan skills through formal education, we however believe in providing a 360 degrees solution to the issue in question allowing teenage moms to attain formal education as well as life skills while working at the project in a manner that is safe and empowering. Our main objectives are to provide teenage moms with formal education, training them with artisan skills that will allow them self employ ( when they can legally work) as well as incorporate a personal development module that will improve their self image and build their leadership skills. This initiative's approach will engage our community and allow them participate in sponsoring girls through education by purchasing merchandise in support of the cause. Year one will include 3 Students that will be sponsored by the founder. However, while these students get educated through existing facilities merchandise will be created and sold with the aim of preparing to sponsor 1,000 girls by year 2.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
I believe that girls and women should be at the center of all sustainable development goals since women have a special role to play in our community , This idea is aimed at providing opportunities to teen moms to formal secondary school education , achieving this will give them an opportunity to compete with other youths to economic opportunities and ability to pursue higher education . This is aimed at playing a part in to contributing to objective 4 and 5 towards SDG 2030. This will be achieved by having 3 girls attain high level secondary education by end of 2021 and 1,000 girls each year after 2021 graduating as private candidates for secondary school studies .
Plans for implementation and sustainability
This concept is still at idea phase, it will be implemented in a social franchise model.implementation of it is solely dependent of application and approval by the relevant government bodies according to the country's law. The process of acquiring permits is scheduled for the months of September to October 2019. Upon receiving authorization to practice, the project will scout for 3 girls that could not complete their advance level secondary education and sponsor them to take studies for academic year 2020. The project will also proceed to procure initial merchandise that will be sold in preparation for year 2 activities. The source of finance for this project will be founder's initial investment, 50% of all profit from sell of merchandise and donor funding. A media house will be engaged as a media partner once permits to launch are granted.
