GREEN PARADISE....Inspiring new ways!
Explain your idea in details:
As tourism becomes increasingly important to communities around the world, the need to develop tourism sustainably also becomes a primary concern. Green Paradise is borne out of the need to develop an environmentally and socially responsible tourism attractions - a must-visit destination in Africa, to be situated in the Abo lake, Abo, Nigeria. It is a form of tourism development that will take proper consideration of the host people, communities, cultures, customs, lifestyles, and social and economic system. Apart from the Abo lake being a very good location for tourist attractions, it will also promote the dispersal of visitors beyond the city centres. Being a natural resort will also make it more fascinating for visitors who will like to have photo sessions and picnics around the area. This scenic area is rich in history and includes landmark like Colonial Master Mongo Park's anchor. The objective of my idea is to develop a world-class tourism destination that meets the needs of the tourists and the host regions while protecting and enhancing opportunities for the future. It seeks to: (1) Develop green tourism activities associated with preserving and promoting the values of natural resources and environmental protection. (2) Provide direct and indirect employment to over 1,000 people by 2030, and contributes to the presentation and promotion of cultural values. (3) Attract about 2,000 international visitors by 2030, and serve over 500,000 domestic tourists. When implemented, Green Paradise will house a Museum, Water park, Fisherman's Wharf, Games Arcade, Film Village, Recreational park, Restuarant, and accommodation facilities. We will also collaborate with international travel and tourism agencies like ITB Berlin, UNWTO, WATA to host an annual international cultural festival to promote the cultural heritage of the people.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
When implemented, Green Paradise will not only be a first-class tourist attractions centre that will be the destination of the world, it is also a form of tourism that is compatible with or contributes to sustainable development. It is a tourism development that attempts to create economically, socially, and ecologically responsible tourism products, hence, promoting biodiversity through our conservation activities, and meeting the needs of the host population in terms of improved living standard both in the short and long term, providing employment opportunities while enabling local small businesses with greater market access and consistent income, and promoting climate action through the use of green energy. We also plan to partner with local agencies that recycle PET bottles to further reduce the plastic pollution of our ocean.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
CAPITAL: The initial capital will be sourced from personal savings and donation from friends and family. REGISTRATION AND LICENSING First, we plan to register with the local government's business regulation division for the allocation of the land and license for forest reserve, and then pay a visit to the host community. INSTITUTIONAL ARRANGEMENTS. This stage involves the (1) Appointment of a project advisor (2) Establishment of a project steering committee whose role would play an advisory, consultative and facilitator role in the project by reviewing the work of the project and making recommendations for developments, and possible continuation of the project. PROJECT MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE The project advisor will lead the management team, supported by the project director. These professionals will provide excellent analytical skills and administrative services. The project advisor will have several roles, including the overall management, coordination, project formulation and development, administration and advocacy. The next stage involves planning of the workforce size, facility and software requirement, the method of marketing and advertising media, and the power requirement. At start-up, we plan to also invest in tour operator software for booking customers. We intend to use social media and international advertising agencies and continue to seek government support and collaborate with the ministry of tourism in Nigeria. We will also set up a monitoring and response unit to ensure that the cultural integrity of the people is protected. From our market research, Green Paradise would generate over $50,000 annually as a result of the untapped market potentials in the Nigerian Tourism Industry and the uniqueness of our products. With this, it is surely a Going concern. We will also collaborate with the ministry of tourism and other international travel and tourism agencies like ITB Berlin, UNWTO, WATA to host an annual international cultural festival to promote the cultural heritage of the people.
