Terra - Circular Economy
Explain your idea in details:
Terra is a startup who search for opportunities to stop single-use packaging. Our goal is to reduce the big amount of trash that we produce every single day by consuming food. Food producers are willing to help to reduce this problem in our country. Terra is going to deliver food to your house in reusable containers when you finished the product, schedule a pick up from your home. Our main objective is to work in a circular economy. Do you remember the milkman in the past years? We are going to work with the same model, we deliver the products you need using reusable containers.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
When a country only recycled 5% of all the garbage that we produce ends up in landfills. This produces toxic gases that can greatly impact the air quality and the atmosphere. Terra focuses on goal 12 and goal 13 of sustainable development goals. Because we believe that we can change the linear economy. There's not reasonably reason to keep using single-use packages in our foods. If we can make the people more conscious about what is happening on the planet maybe we can change their perspective. Our primary target is going to be vegans and vegetarians because they are more conscious about the circumstances of the environment. We're planning to make good media coverage about what are we doing and little by little we'll educate all the locals. One day everyone's will join us in this task of reducing waste
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Terra is going to be an e-commerce store where you can order a certain type of food in reusable containers. We are going to deliver it to your home and then you schedule the pick up from your home. In the early stage, we are going to focus on basics products for vegans or vegetarians as legumes, oats, nuts, and seeds. We're going to create a good marketing strategy with the purpose of bind the customer. Later, we're going to work with small entrepreneurs form the food industry to help them to sell their products on our store. Increase our sells and theirs. We plan to finance our startups with the help of the Fondo Ambiental de El Salvador. Also, we're going to ask for help to Banks who help small entrepreneurs.
My name is Joshua Nieto, I'm 22 years old. I live in El Salvador, the smallest country in Central America. Recent graduate with a degree in Public Relations. I'm an entrepreneur who loves to create new business ideas. Since 2016, I've been mentoring other entrepreneurs about branding. What makes me feel motivated is seeing other people working hard for what they want. That inspired me to create a better place in my country where I can help them. It's not my first time participating in a competition, I've participated in nationals and international competitions. In 2016 I was selected to be part of a mentoring by Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation. Also, in 2017 I was pre finalist in the mentoring of Spinway, a contest launched by Santiago Compostela University.
