Go Green, Eat Healthy
Explain your idea in details:
The main objectives are to train people how to become environmentally friendly and how to produce their own healthy organic vegetables at home with recyclables and minimal cost. Therefore, my idea will aim to solve two environmental problems, the first one is absence of green zones in the cities by training people to create a hydroponic green space on their balconies and the second one is the pollution caused by plastic trash where my idea can reuse old plastic containers in the process of creating a hydroponic system. In addition, my idea will lead people to be able to produce healthy organic food at a minimal cost while at the same time engaging them in a beneficial environmental/science activity.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
My idea aims to promote good health and well-being (SDG 3) as well as sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11) by reusing plastic trash to create a hydroponic system, and by teaching people the skill of producing organic vegetables using hydroponics which will stay with them for a long period of time. We have two types of customers:1) the high school principles/administrators/teachers especially science and geography teachers who will purchase our training service to deliver a science/environmental activity for their students; and 2) homemakers/housewives living in major cities in Lebanon who will know about our service through social media advertisement and flyers and who want are willing to learn the skill of producing organic vegetables at home and will minimal cost. How much people purchase our training service (main revenue), this will determine our success in the market and when the high school students and housewives who took our training implement the learned skills, this will determine our social corporate responsibility success which aims to change the future of our societies toward the better.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
My business model includes the following elements 1) Key partners: high school principles/teachers/administrators and social media 2) Key suppliers: Suppliers of raw material needed for the training (seeds, mineral water, old plastic bottles etc) and Suppliers of stationary, computer, LCD projector. 3) Key activities: Training can be given at the office premises for homemakers interested in learning how to produce healthy organic vegetables at a very low cost on their balconies and Training can be given at high schools for students as part of environmental/ science activities or as part of the school extracurricular activities. 4) Value proposition: Giving training for high school students and homemakers living in the major cities in Lebanon, on how to establish a homemade hydroponic garden that will provide them with healthy organic vegetables at a low cost on their balconies using recyclable/reused plastic material such as plastic bottles and cups. We have two types of customers, each with their own value. High school principals: the value is to create environmental/science/extracurricular activities for students while giving the reputation of environmentally friendly for the school. Homemakers: the value is to equip them with skills to produce healthy organic vegetables for their families in a low cost while at the same time behaving in an environmentally friendly manner through reuse/recycling of the household plastic trash and increasing green spaces on their balconies in the cities. 5) Key resources: Advertisement and marketing through social media such as a facebook page, instagram page, company website. Marketing through posters and flyers distributed on the doors of houses. We need professional trainers. Office place with a training room. Raw materials for our training. Stationary, computer, and a projector. 6) To cover the costs, I request a seed funding to be able to implement this idea and change it into business.
