Clean Ocean² Sustainable Festival
Explain your idea in details:
For this year's competition, we'd like to present our idea regarding sea life preservation in collaboration with music festivals around the world. Our idea consists of a festival as big as Lollapalooza or Rock in Rio, in which every funds (profits) will be distributed to NGOs focused on protecting sea life. The company responsible for hosting those festivals will be called Clean Ocean² (fictional company).
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
A music festival would have a great impact, for that we would try to collaborate with many pop, rock and indie artists as possible. The most eligible places for such festivals would be the United States, Europe as a whole and Brazil, as these seem to have a fair popularity when it comes famous festivals (example: Brazil has it's own festival called Rock in Rio, placed in Rio de Janeiro)
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Not only we want entertainment, but e also want sustainability. For that, our festival tickets will be digital with a QR code ready to scan (received as soon as you purchase them) and once you arrive at festival, you'll also receive a nicely crafted bracelet, completely made out of recycled plastic collected from the sea. Clean Ocean² will also have a store, both online and at the festival, in which will sell popsockets, buttons, bracelets, cups and other accessories made out of recycled plastic. That's where a part of our profit will come from. An interesting partnership we'd like to see is with 4Ocean, a company also focused on protecting sea life by removing the trash from the ocean with a professional team. According to their website, they've removed more than 5,000,000 pounds of trash in the ocean and at coastlines. Their store could also be displayed at the Clean Ocean² Festival, as they also sell bracelets (each created based off a species threatened by ocean pollution). Their bracelets sell for around USD$20,00 and would be a great deal.
My name is Amanda Alves Leandro, I'm 15 years old and a freshman student at Ábaco, in São Bernardo do Campo. This is my group's first time ever participating in such a big competition. Our main motivation is our geography teacher, who presented us this opportunity. At first we weren't really interested, but as my group started working on it, we started to enjoy our time sharing our creative ideas. I believe that we managed to create a somewhat down-to-earth project, that has potential to be worked on further more.
