Explain your project in details:

Collecting plastic wastes from homes, drainage systems, sea banks and landfill to our facility where they are firstly sorted, washed and disinfected before extrusion and granulation to sheets/flakes which would be thermoformed into high-visibility packaging, buckets, interlocking blocks (pavement blocks), general plastic household items or use it in other high value-added operations (custom moulding) whilst utilizing environmentally friendly recycling and manufacturing method. We intend to recover waste for its highest and best use while balancing rates and services, to transform our business from burying waste to utilizing waste as a resource and to eliminate the need for landfills.

Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development

Periodic trainings/workshops are conducted, where 70% mostly women, were able find a place and create a niche for their selves in the recycling business. The sheets and artisan products (jewelry, furniture, mats etc.) they make are sold on the open market. Sales of these products support the initiative, as well as develop facilities and awareness around waste and recycling within the communities, It is in many ways a model social enterprise in that it combines environmental awareness, women's empowerment, and a long-term plan for self-sustainability. Over 700 homes benefitting direct by exchange of redeemable points and cash for their plastic wastes, thus creating jobs at this level. Sponsorship of environmental sanitation clubs in secondary schools to imbibe the culture of recycling and teach the significance of it, sanitation exercises every last Saturday of the month in collaboration with the States ministry of Environment.
