Brain Computer Interface

Brain Computer Interface is one most advanced interface in present world. In my project, i have made a visual based BCI for the neuromuscular patients. These are not only for the neuromuscular patients but also for every human. The main objective of this project is to provide a solution for the neuromuscular patients to lead their as comfortable as a normal human like being independent. My project can display emotions of a person, can control wheel chair through brain, Can power on or power off any electrical appliance through brain, Health monitoring and alert system using EEG Signals. When It comes to Wheelchair, the person can see the visual stimuli which contains flickering squares which in turn will provide the electric signal to the wheelchair based on which direction the person wants to move. The Flickering squares will be flickering at particular frequencies when the person see a particular square, the electrical signal of the same frequency as of the square will be created in the brain which will classified through the algorithms. My project can entirely provide a new reality for the disabled. As application wise i have made all these but the main application is the interface which can be used to any application if connected properly. I have used neural networks and ML algorithm for classifying the EEG signals. Apart from the classification algorithms, I have used optimization algorithms in order to scale down the system. I am using EPOC+ for the data acquisition. We achieved accuracy of 87.5% for 40 subjects. Further we are bringing this all stages namely data acquisition, signal processing and signal output to a single nano fabricated device.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
We are a team of 4 people where we are working on department wise. We have attended Several Project exhibition like IEEE YESIST, SRISTHI FEST, TCS Enginx and several start up grant competitions. As mentioned before , My device is a non invasive device with a several advanced functions. We are making this for the betterment of the society and the betterment in the living of the people. we as a youth we are contributing towards the development and well being of the society.
Sustainability and future plans
we have been on this project for almost two years under the guidance of guide. We have researched and finished our papers, which are getting published sooner. We have analysed the market to analyse the outcome of our project as a product. We are working on cost reduction which will enhance the product sustainability in the market. We are planning to provide it under a price which lesser than the other devices available. In India, there are very few companies working on BCI. Cost and Accuracy determines our sustainability . Our device is a non invasive device which is a added advantage. Our university incubator are ready to fund us for the further conversion of the project into a complete product.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
I am 20 year old , I am doing by bachelors in Electrical and Electronics in Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore. Till my 12th grade, i was a person who was always trying to meet the parent's expectations. So when i joined VIT i wanted to be for myself , which is me trying to contribute as a citizen for the wellness and the betterment of the country. This was always my motivation and i am person who thinks positive in all aspects which kept me going even in my tough situations. Smiling and being positive at tough occasions holded the main reason for my success. I am representing IEEE PSES on a global scale as a Student Global Rep.
