Explain your project in details:
Augumented reality (AR) is a technology that enhances reality i.e it adds on top of reality, mixing the virtual world with the real world. So we have managed to develop an AR android application able to scan using the device's camera. So the app has a support booklet which gives information about the product to be scanned. The booklet will vary in terms of information. Some for will be for animals, fruits, cities, experiments, transport systems, bridges, etc. So you launch(open) the app on your mobile device and scan the qr code on respective pages on the booklet. Features we want to add on the AR app include 1. sound features for animals and transportation 2. Environment detection for the products being scanned, all this will improve the experience. Virtual reality is a technology that creates virtual experiences, it avails what is not present physically to be seen with the use of virtual lens. So we want to leverage on this technology to curate virtual trips for users. Users will be able to tour cities, world wonders, tour research institutions, airports, experiments, etc. Though all this will come to be step by step. This will be achieved through the use of virtual lens (googles like wearable). Cloud computing is a revolutionary technology that helps in storage of data. The education sector spends a lot of resources, money which can be easily saved and directed elsewhere. Though this is a long term vision we looking forward to be the Dropbox of education.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
Our product is very significant and can't be ignored, recently I applied to be part of the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme, one of Africa's largest initiative designed to promote entrepreneurship through 'africapitalism', out of 216000 applicants this project was one of the 3050 projects which were successful. Upon completion of the online startup enterprise we will receive USD5000 as non-refundable seed capital. Back home we will be show casing our product at a local trade show in Bulawayo and I will be presenting on the use of Extended Realities in education. Furthermore we also will be exhibiting under the startup pavilion at the only EdTech conference in Africa hosted in Sandton, South Africa in October.
Sustainability and future plans
Our AR app has a support booklet which will be sold. Moreover on the AR app we intend to have paid features to integrate like voice and animation features. Our virtual tours attach a certain fee. Longterm we intend to have paid packages on the educloud. At the moment we banking on $5000 seed capital we will receive from the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
As as 23 year old guy, I have not always considered myself as an entrepreneur but my journey as a problem solving solver dates back sa far as 3 years back, looking back I realise it was all entrepreneurship. Having worked on several startups namely Genesis Food Store( an online kitchen), Executive Inc (a website, application and software development company) and Finbuddy (a guide to financial markets). I have gained significant knowledge to run around to make a product work. From a tech background I have interests in Extended Realities (virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality) and their applications in various industries particularly in education. Having spent 2 years studying computer science at a local university and dropped due to financial challenges hence fuelled my entreprennual journey. Eversince my dropping out from college I have somehow put a huge responsibility on myself to more than just prove a possibility instead to improve it by helping more and more get exposed to a world perspective of live not just a local village one. And this drives me on a daily basis to keep pushing forward.
