The Volunteer Edge (VE) is a non-for-profit non-governmental organisation volunteering towards the UN Global Goals for Africa and beyond. It main objective is to bridge the education disparity, lead and encourage investment in education infrastructure and equip students with the skills needed to thrive in todays fast evolving socio-political environment. Promoting quality education, is at the core of its programming. Improving the outcome of youths lives, forms the basis for the work the organization is engaged in, using its investments in education, and economic empowerment to help lift people out of poverty. VE is for people who are you ambitious enough to believe they can make a positive impact in our world. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. We are planning to develop a web and mobile platform where non-government organization, corporate organizations and volunteers will meet to solve common problem in their communities.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
Volunteers Edge has partnered with Junior Chamber International, Ikeja on 2019 Tech Academy to trained recorded 37 youths aged 13 -18 on basic programming languages such as Python, HTML, CSS and Java at Center for Information Services, UNILAG, Lagos, Nigeria. Volunteers Edge in collaboration with Volunteers Teachers' Club volunteered teaching on ICT and Mathematics to pupils in government schools across Nigeria. We also visited Makoko communitywhich is claimed as the largest slum in Lagos-Nigeria to educate the youths on the benefits of quality education and proper hygiene.
Sustainability and future plans
Volunteers Edge will basically be financed by the Board of Trustees. It will be sustained in partnership with other non-for-profit organizations, corporate organizations and volunteers with common goals on achieving United Nations Sustanable Development Goals in Nigeria and Africa at large.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
AFOLAYAN Taiwo Ibrahim (ATI) is a Creative Designer, Web/App Developer, Data Analyst, Blogger and a Model. He's the Co-Founder of Argitech Limited and the Editor-in-Chief at The Fashionistar Magazine. He studies for master's degree in Financial Engineering at WorldQuant University, USA. He holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Nigeria. He also holds a National and Higher National Diploma in Computer Science from The Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun, Nigeria. Taiwo has also worked with an international community-based organization on International programmes. He volunteers at the United Nations Volunteers, ROTA Volunteers and Junior Chamber International (JCI) where he contributes his quota to national growth and global development. Taiwo has volunteered as a creative designer on digital sexuality education awareness for several groups including UNFPA, UNESCO and UNICEF. He is the Co-Founder of Volunteers Edge for volunteering towards United Nations Global Goals for Africa and beyond. He's also a member of Volunteer Teacher's Club for volunteer teaching. He's an MTN Foundation Influencer on Anti-Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) contributing to the significant reduction in the rate of first-time users of addictive substances and drugs amongst Nigerian youths. Through these experiences, he developed strong project coordination and implementation skills. Taiwo enjoys focussing on the topics on entrepreneurship, self-development and has a strong passion for youth empowerment. Taiwo is a ROI Africa Global Youth Ambassador Fellow, The Netherlands Education Group Youth Ambassador and Global Goodwill Ambassador for his leadership, expertise and entrepreneurial experience on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through promoting entrepreneurship, quality education and innovation. He was a 2019 The BIZZ Business Excellence Award winner awarded by WORLD CONFEDERATION OF BUSINESSES WORLDCOB for his leadership, management style, innovation, creativity, corporate social responsibility and result achieved given in the city of Houston, Texas, United States.
