Regalo Masterclass is an offering of Regalo Kitchen and Confectionery Limited commenced in May 2018 to bridge the unemployment and underemployment gap in Nigeria and Africa. Through skills acquisition training of youths and women, we are able to set them on them path of entrepreneurship, creating jobs and a source of income for them and their families. In Africa, especially Nigeria where over 50% of families lives below $2 daily and thus faces lots of economic hardship and deprivations. We are changing the status quo through skills acquisition different from the norm as a way of creating decent jobs for economic development and eradicating poverty in Nigeria and Africa. Our Vision is in line the Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and 9 to eradicate poverty by empowering and training 1 million unemployed and unskilled women and youths in Africa by year 2030 towards becoming decently engaged, develop self-esteem and value while contributing to the development of their society through income they earn. Our Vision is bold, innovative and transformative due to its impact on Nigeria and Africa. Imagine the impact of 1 million youths been gainfully empowered through skills acquisition capable of employing 2-5 million youths across Africa? Imagine a gainfully employed youth and women who is no longer available to be used as a tool for various social vices with esteem high and able to contribute toward the economic development of Africa. In the next 5 years, we intend to have achieved 50% of our goal by achieving at least 500,000 trained youths and women across Africa and then connect them to used their skills in serving their community through the Regalo Kitchen mobile Application due to be available later in the year. Already our trained youths and women now earn an average of $350 monthly.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
The company has recorded a slow but steady growth with over 150 direct beneficiaries since inception in 2018. Our beneficiaries now earn an average of $350 in revenue on a monthly basis. The potential for growth is strong and Regalo Kitchen intends to achieve more through collaborations and partnerships to ensure women and youths have a voice for economic development and national growth. In celebration of the efforts of Regalo Kitchen and Confectionery Limited, she emerged Top 100 fastest growing SMEs in Nigeria for 2018 (an award by Business Day Media and Bossman Nigeria).
Sustainability and future plans
Our strategy is to leverage on technology to connect our trained youths and women with those who need their services in a safe and secure manner which gives rooms for more income, job creation and economic prosperity. Our path for financial sustainability is from our Market Linkage Model where would charge 10% on every transaction done on our platform. We currently earn a fixed charge of $15 for the training per delegate. The future is to grow fast across Nigeria and scale across Africa thus replicating our skills acquisition program in other regions in Africa where they face high population with proportionate rate of unemployment.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
Oluwatomisin has four years of experience in the private sector and social entrepreneurship where she has actively engaged in human capacity development, youth development, gender equality and entrepreneurship development. She earned a Bachelors degree in Sociology from Bowen University Iwo, Nigeria in 2015. She also received certifications in Leadership and Entrepreneurship from Daystar Leadership and Business Academy as well as the Global Impact Institute Lagos, Nigeria. In her commitment and passion towards driving positive change, attainment of Sustainable Development Goals and empowerment of women in Nigeria and Africa she introduced the Regalo Master class in 2018 under her company which has since empowered hundreds of women with a viable source of income to take care of their families through skills acquisition, financial literacy among others. In recognition of her work and the accelerated impact and growth, her company emerged top 100 fastest growing SMEs in Nigeria for 2018 (an award by Business Day Media and Bossman Nigeria).
