Cress Health: Leveraging mobile technology to fight addiction.
Explain your project in details:
- Cress Healths aim is to promote mental health wellness and reduce social inequalities within the addiction recovery space. - Social support is an integral part of the addiction recovery process, yet a whopping 85% is estimated to not receive adequate support - Current barriers to social support include: demographic inequalities, unequal access, and inconvenience - We have developed a personalized mobile addiction recovery social support app to address these barriers to support. Our features include: 24/7 Virtual Support Group: The Cress Health mobile application provides a 24/7, virtual support group of like-minded individuals, who share key demographic identities. Matching Algorithm: The application utilizes a matching algorithm to match recovering members to other like-minded individuals. This matching algorithm is incorporated into the chatting application to strategically group members into peer-recovery communities. Artificial Intelligence (AI) : An AI-driven natural language processing system will be utilized to monitor peer-recovery communities for suspicious or inappropriate behavior and predict relapse, thus allowing for early intervention. Peer-recovery communities: Each peer-recovery community utilizes a chat-based platform to simulate real-life fellowship meetings. Daily Check In: To monitor and facilitate recovery progress among community members, members are prompted to check-in with the application on a daily basis. SOS! Button: A notification will be delivered to the members peer recovery community should they activate their SOS! (Send Over Support!) button when feeling a sudden urge to relapse.

Your profile as an entrepreneur
My name is Justin Kim, a undergraduate social entrepreneur from the United States of America. My co-founders are Michael Lai and Sonny Mo, who are also undergraduates. We are very passionate about addiction recovery and have teammates as well as loved ones who have successfully recovered. Indeed, this is a difficult journey filled with feelings of isolation, loneliness, and helplessness. We want everyone on this path to have access to social support. Our hope is to create inclusive, meaningful, and personalized support communities in order to prevent relapse and bring back wellness to those who most need it.
