Explain your project in details:
KentePride Apparels is a social enterprise that manufactures and sells durable, versatile and Eco-friendly shoes made from up-cycled tires and recycled fabric waste and as well manufactures customized professional Kente Stoles/Sashes for special and ceremonial occasions which portrays the rich African Cultural Heritage. KentePride creates Jobs that benefits people with disabilities, youth with lower education from deprived communities in Ghana providing them a source of livelihood and giving them opportunity to escape from poverty. We inspire people to get creative about re-using materials, extending their life-cycle and at the same time contributing to waste reduction in order to solve the problem of climate change which has been a global canker. KentePride was inspired by a long term observation of how society disregards the disabled. Disabled artisans are perceived to be at the base of the social pyramid or otherwise out of the Job market. I intended to give these people a fair stand across all sectors both economically and socially. I am always driven by value addition mentality, thinking of what to add to the human race and leave a lasting legacy for my generation and as well ensure continuity when am no more. KentePride is committed to its mission of promoting the rich African cultural heritage and contributing to socio-economic development by empowering disabled artisans through Job creation with the sales of our unique, quality, elegant and innovative products. I am also passionate about saving the earth and turning waste to wealth. As a Pan Africanist, environmentalist and a visionary entrepreneur, a socially inclusive world, economic prosperity and environmental sustainability is what I stand for. It is my objective to become the leading brand in the kente weaving and fashion industry in the next five(5) years.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
Environmental Impact: This project aims to mitigate climate change which has been a global problem leading to earthquakes, tsunami, storms, abnormal rise in temperature and rising sea levels. This has gone a long way to affect the health and well being of people in the world. KentePride seeks to reinvent in the environment by using waste to create something of greater use and value. We ensure the recycling of discarded tires and fabric waste which could be burnt to cause excessive release of carbon(iv) oxide into the atmosphere to cause global warming which leads to climate change. This project would also ensure reduction in environmental pollution. Economic Prosperity: KentePride creates Jobs that benefits artisans with disabilities, youth with lower education from deprived communities in Ghana providing them a source of livelihood and giving them opportunity to escape from poverty. This will go a long way to contribute to the socio-economic development and general productivity of my country. With KentePride, I believe the economic transformation of Ghana and Africa at large can be achieved. Social Impact: KentePride was inspired by a long term observation of how society disregards the disabled. Disabled artisans are perceived to be at the base of the social pyramid or out of the Job market. I intend to give these people a fair stand stand across all sectors both socially and economically. With this I believe a socially inclusive world can be achieved.
