Siya Buddy Recycling and Waste Management

SiyaBuddy collects,sort,bale and resell waste materials to recyclers across South Africa.We provide high quality baled material ,whilst supporting the community by providing indirect and direct jobs and cleaning the surroundings.Our objectives is to promote environmental protection and conservation,to involve the people in developing waste management strategies and ideas and to attract and give investors hope on rural areas businesses.Siyabuddy offers waste awareness and waste seperation training to community members.These trainings are used to teach community members on how to store their waste and how they can turn waste into a revenue stream.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
SiyaBuddy address social issues like unemployment and social exclusion of poverty and creating both direct and indirect jobs. To date, SiyaBuddy has employed 28 young people and also provides 1033 indirect jobs through waste collectors who sell to SiyaBuddy on a regular. The company contributes towards public health, prevent environmental degradation towards waste free environment. We have achieved in redirecting 200 tons of waste from landfill monthly. In addition to this we contribute towards the sustainable goal 12 Responsible consumption and production. 12.3 By 2030, halve per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer levels and reduce food losses along production and supply chain including post harvest losses. Our indicator here is tond of food waste recycled by Siyabuddy 12.5 By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse indicator: National recycling rate, tons of materials recycled. Sustainability and future plans
SiyaBuddy collects,bales and resell waste materials to recyclers across South Africa.We use a truck,balling machine,forklift,scale and warehouse to complete our key activities.Our key partners are Coca-Cola,Nkomanzi municipality,Sappi,IDC and SEDA.We engage directly with our customers through face to face interaction and through online communication.Our client include business producing waste and business using waste to produce new products.Sales are made through selling waste materials to recyclers such as Consol, Sappi,Waste plan and Collect a can.We plan to expand and grow in triple collection capacity, develop new site, increase staff count to 100, implement 24 hour shift, implement 2 shifts,6 days a week and creating opportunities for communities to get revenue. We also plan to implement the black soldier fly production system. the black soldier fly larvae production system will produce larvae as protein for animals such as chickens and fish. The system uses organic material to grow the larvae. The black soldier fly feeds on the matter converting it to manure whilst laying eggs. Once the eggs have hatched, the larvae grows and is harvested as animal feed. Products sold are the manure and black soldier fly larvae.

Mr Siyabonga Buddy Tshabalala is a 28 year old who is a founder of SiyaBuddy Recycling and Waste Management. He obtained a bachelor's of science honours degree in environmental analysis and management, university of Pretoria 2013, bachelor of science degree in community water services, University of Limpopo 2012 and a national Academy on Green Economy in South Africa,DBSA Academy,2018.Siyabonga is widely experienced in the operational management of a temporal storage and pre-processing of a recycling center. He obtained the necessary licences and authority for SiyaBuddy to operate as a recycling center. He manages the day to day running operations of SiyaBuddy and manages the stakeholders of SiyaBuddy. He currently holds the following position 1. Chaiperson of Siyabuddy Workers Trust 2. Executive Committee Member of the Ehlanzeni Youth Chamber of Commerce and Industries heading the Waste and Renewable Energy Sector 3.
