sleeperoo - the night, the spot and you.
Explain your project in details:
sleeperoo offers a holistic concept for pop-up overnight experiences at unusual locations in- and outdoors. The futuristic sleep cube the sleeperoo - can be easily assem-bled and disassembled due to its modular design. A panoramic roof and three pano-ramic windows provide a perfect view, giving guests the chance to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of their surroundings. With its comfy 1.6 m wide and 2.0 m long soybean foam mattress, virgin wool rugs and pillows and a chillbox providing vegan snacks and drinks the sleeperoo offers 12 cubic metres of comfort and style. The special nights at a special place are bookable via the brands web portal. Channel management and affiliate modules multiply the global distribution network. A manual standardizes everything from cleaning methods to the way local hosts greet guests. The cubes are exempt of a construction permit due to their mobility and stand sepa-rately for around six months in an exclusive place in nature or an exiting urban cultural spot. The sleeperoo experience creates stories and a social media buzz around the spot and makes it more instagramable. Guests can stay one night at a cruise terminal and the next at the beach, thus creating a win-win situation both B2B (spots and partners for installation of the cubes are high-lighted) and B2C (guests benefit from quality standards and guaranteed experiences). The concept has won the Katzensprung Deutschland award for climate-friendly trips in Germany and was a nominee for the 2018 German Tourism Award. The sleep cubes caused excitement on German entrepreneurs TV show The Dragons Den Die Höhle der Löwen and was nominated for the German Innovation Award 2019. The German National Tourism Board will presented sleeperoo as an innovation made in Germany at their booth at the International Tourism Market ITB in March 2019.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
With sleeperoo, an extraordinary location in the immediate vicinity is opened up for exclusive event nights and thus upgraded. It does so without alienating the living space from its intended purpose, as is common with sharing portals. Often, sleeperoo guests can even refrain from coming by car, because in many cases the spots can be reached by public transport or bicycle. The local hosts work according to specified quality standards. Their offer is multifaceted and diverse. Sleeperoo does not aim for standardised tourist attractions, but for honest and authentic insights and views of the region. By purchasing regional food, the guest supports the regional economic cycle. When equipping the Design|sleep Cube, attention is paid to the use of materials, which are made from renewable raw materials wherever possible. The energy supply of the sleeperoo in outdoor use should be self-sufficient - a self-sufficient energy unit is in preparation. In addition, energy-saving LED lighting is used. Apart from the comfortable and sustainably produced equipment and the wonderful environment of the installation site, sleeperoo intentionally provides no further attractions. The guests should not be distracted, but rather enjoy the special moment in the here and now. All service providers and suppliers with whom sleeperoo cooperates are committed to sustainability and pursue similar goals with their products, each in their own way: They support social projects at home and abroad, work with ecologically clean materials and try to make our planet a happier place every day. Ultimately, every sleeperoo guest contributes to a sustainable night experience for himself and for all subsequent guests by careful handling of the spot and the hosts. Sustainability at sleeperoo is not just lip service, but a deep conviction in which careful planning and great love for detail have been integrated.
Sustainability and future plans
Breakeven is achieved by operating 60 cubes with a 50% occupancy rate at an average net turnover of EUR 130 per night. Sales and franchise fees offer additional revenue streams. The company is currently negotiating license agreements with international partners in order to expan the concept to other countries. Initial financing was secured with EUR 250,000 by equity of the owner and funder and EUR 1 million in SME financing from the City of Hamburg, of which EUR 750,000 have been called up. EUR 200,000 were acquired in the TV show Lions Den. SME financing allows for a distribution of 24,9% in shares. This is now being pursued, alternately a crowdfuding campaign.
