The Problem: Research have shown that nearly all infectious diseases with pandemic potential in humans are contracted from animals; Diseases travel at jet-speed around the world, spreading across the continents in just a few days; And at the instance of disease emergence, there is no corresponding vaccine to immediately tackle the infection. Key Objectives and Activities: Objective1: To establish a database on interaction points between humans and animals in two hot spots countries by November, 2020. Result 1: Access to data on points of interaction between human and animals by September, 2020 Activities: -Conduct five online and two In-Person sample population surveys on current interaction points between human and animals by November, 2020. Objective2: To promote safe and healthy interactions points between humans and animals in two hot spots countries by December, 2022. Result1: Political will and by-in to prevent pandemics by December, 2022. Activities: -Conduct three sets of In-Person advocacy meetings, Seminars and Workshops with law makers/policy and other key stakeholders in the related ministries of health, agriculture and commerce and to promote safe and healthy human/animal interaction points through the use of PPEs, hand Sanitizers and regular hand washing as well as formulate policies against unsafe and unhealthy points by December, 2022. Result11: Change in Behaviour in two hot spots countries by December, 2022 Activities -Conduct 10 sets of online/In-Person public education activities such as campaigns, workshops on the use of PPE, and other protective measures by populations involve in human/animals while in their businesses by December, 2022. Objective3: To assess the progress of programme implementation by December, 2023. Result1: Assess to data on the level of programme progress, success and challenges in the two countries by December, 2023. Activities: -Implement two sets of In-Person sample mid-term evaluation to ascertain change in behaviours. Approaches: We connect with stakeholders; Identify interaction points; Sensitize through seminars, workshops; Regulate compliance; Track progress and Scale up.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Togeda impacts on sustainable Development by developing strategies to reduce unnecessary wastages; partnership based on similarities in value and ethics and fair contract conditions with employees such as maternity and sick leaves. Togeda targets the achievement of Sustainable Development goal 3. Direct beneficiaries are the human population interfacing with animals. Togeda also targets the achievement of the objectives: To set up an institution capable of coordinating and managing a global movement that seek to ensure that the views, values and opinion of worlds people shape global prevention of further pandemics by July, 2021; Establish a global database on interface points between humans and animals by November, 2021; Promote safe and healthy interface points in two hot spots countries by December, 2022; Assess the progress of programme implementation by December, 2023; Scale up the programme to two more hot spots countries by December, 2025. Togeda will work with WHO, FHI360, global health. Plans for implementation and sustainability
Togeda is a tax-exempt not-for-profit global movement that seek to campaign for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other protective measures in human/animals interaction points to curtail pathogen spillover from animals to humans. To achieve this, Togeda will create partnerships with countrys related ministries of health, agriculture and commerce, Local human/animals interaction points associations or union -Animal Farmers Associations, Market Associations, Slaughters/abartoires associations , foundations and preivate persons to ensure that human/animals interaction points are safe and healthy. We will works across borders, with a priority on hotspot regions at highest risk for emerging infectious disease, and where trusted local champions and sufficient political will exist to engage in innovative methods to prevent outbreaks . Togeda business model is B2G2C Togeda start-up expenses will come to $8,500, which will be mostly use for feasibility study, meetings, stationery/brochures, legal costs, and expenses associated with setting up our office. The start-up costs are to be financed by contributions by ten private donors and family members. Fundraising Strategy and Forecast Togeda funding sources will include members yearly dues, fund raising campaigns/events, private donations, and grants from private foundations. Togeda forecast of revenues for 2021-2022 is $1,260,000. The stable core funding will come from members yearly dues and private foundations. Anticipated growth from these funding sources is estimated to be 50% over the next five years. Togeda will also focus on rapidly increasing funding from sources where the percentage growth is projected to be highest. The targets are private donations and fundraising campaigns/events. By 2025, estimated revenue should be in excess of $1, 590,000. Sustainability: With regards to UN sustainable Development concept, Togeda development strategies will faciltate economic sustainability without compromising improving the lives of people and restoring the environment through tree planting and the use of alternative power
