Explain your idea in details:
E-Scholar will be an internet based, equal and quality education promoting program; facilitated by professional education graduates (Teachers) facing unemployment. Facilitators (teachers) will be brought together after a thoroughly assessment of their professional teaching abilities and qualities and mostly importantly those with a desire to help students from poor societies hence facing educational difficulties, or students at government schools who due to high number of students to teacher ratio causing poor educational follow-up fail to ensure equal and quality education as those in private schools. With E-Scholar services, students must have access to a Smartphone or a computer with a reliable internet connection through which they will reach the E-Scholar services via web and mobile applications. A student will be required to open a user account for accessing their respective class lessons and notes (as per syllabus) by means of ready to print learning materials (notes) or by recorded lesson videos. Students user accounts will be the only means to classroom learning and evaluation tool where facilitators will make a daily close follow-up to each student (as if in a physical classroom) assessing their learning development by means of lesson assignments/exercises, end of topic tests and Exams. Students will receive classroom works in their user accounts/email and will be required to physically perform the given tasks on hand written papers or books then submit feedback (in picture format) for marking and corrections if necessary. Questions and or any inquiries will be directly addressed to the facilitators via emails or even via Whatsapp for an immediate response, unless not working hours. The program specifically will deal with science and Mathematics subjects which are great challenge to government schools students.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Through E-Scholar Educational program I expect the following impacts; 1) Promoting equal and providing quality and low cost Science and Mathematics subjects Education to the students from poor families that cant afford it. 2) Assuring the students with the best education instructional results upon an effective utilization of the E-Scholar learning programs. 3) Creating professional working opportunities to the youth that are in streets/home due to unemployment or any other reasons. 4) Vividly, encountering the current corona outbreak that has led to closure of schools, hence students will be provided with an opportunity to access lessons as if they are in a real physical classroom. 5) Bringing about awareness and awakening the science subjects spirit among students from low class/poor to promote an equal opportunity before high school and science based carrier studies upon completion of their secondary education. 6) Ensuring equal opportunity to all students from all classes (common class and rich class) before quality and sustainable education by removing the economic (cost) and unfavorable learning environments barriers before education services.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
The fore most plans of this project are recruiting enough facilitators (the teachers) for each respective subject and an IT professional, setting up and evaluating the quality of the learning materials and reference resources, lunching the website and mobile applications, and then uploading learning resources. Schools and government/non-government organization support is needed to set up a complete database and management costs because the program is an educational development program utilizing science and technology opportunities to tackle educational barriers and inequalities in schools as well as combating unemployment. After a successful completion of the above mentioned, the program will be advertised to the targeted students at schools, social media and with necessary explanations of its importance, how it works and the monthly learning fees: how to get started by creating their user accounts, enrolling into their respective class, learning timetable, how to access learning sessions and materials/notes, how to address any issue or questions, how to perform learning evaluation tasks e.g. exercises, tests, collecting for marking and getting feedback for corrections to their performed tasks and daily to daily learning follow up for effective learning. Terminal and annual learning outcomes evaluation Exams, for assessment of both, the students development and the programs working plan analysis for improvement.
My name is Godwin Edwin Isaya, a male, single and 26 years old from United Republic of Tanzania. I am a teacher both by professional and talent at heart, with a bachelor degree in Education with Science ( Biology and Chemistry). As a youth and a graduate, it has been three years now (unemployed) since I completed my professional studies without any luck of hitting a serious teaching job. As a teacher, I feel a sense of responsibility before the society, specifically to the young (students). At the government schools, classrooms are highly occupied with large number of students to teacher ratio, poor learning environments and materials thus causing variation to the quality of education given to the students without mentioning unequal opportunity arising among this education environment. With the current corona pandemic outbreak, the E-Scholar platform idea matured into my mind, bringing not only as a means to the must social distancing precaution, but also an educational and self-employment opportunity to the youth graduates. E-Scholar tries to integrate technology into education creating entrepreneurship opportunities as well as an Educational solution to current corona pandemic, long present social classes (rich and poor differences) bringing unequal opportunities to quality education. Just like how normal classes are, with E-learning students will get both ready to print and/or video lessons, the classroom interactions will be by means of emails and Whatsapp and expect an immediate response if its working hours. Furthermore, learning activities e.g exercise/assignments will be provided, hand written by the student and return a feedback in picture mode of the hand done work for marking and correction.
