TOURISM ALPHA - DEVELOPMENT OF PAKISTAN’S FIRST TOURISM PORTAL
Explain your idea in details:
Tourism related information online have always played key role in industry development globally and the absence and need of such information have always been felt among domestic and international travelers, tour operators, travel agents, transporters, airlines, guides, hoteliers and other stakeholders. Therefore, it is high time to construct a professionally designed portal that shares every bit of tourism information of Pakistan and acts as a medium between customers and sellers. The continuing development and growth of the Internet entails that business and customers perceive that it provides them with some kind of value. The Internet has also seen an increasing importance of user-generated content and utilization of the Internet as a social medium Considering the current need, there is a dire need to construct a comprehensive state of the art tourism portal of Pakistan, which will contain information related to touristic attractions, destinations of all provinces, culture practices, hotel directory, restaurants, registered tour operators and registered professional guides etc. This portal will pace up tourism and tourism related activities in the country. To address the problem stated above, an effort will be made to collect data (images/videos/text tourism attractions, historical buildings, traditional sports, culture practices, hotels, highways/routes, and other necessary information) from every province, districts, tehsil and villages of Pakistan. Initially we will focus on few major districts from entire Pakistan and will continue to reach all districts. Initially, I will start focusing key districts, and then the work will be expanded to other districts/tehsil of Pakistan gradually considering the availability of funds.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Impact: Its a souring fact the Pakistan doesnt have any tourism related portal, which contains almost every details related to destinations, stay and dine, tour operators etc. Therefore, this portal will provide great opportunities to all stakeholders to benefit. The portal will help promote destinations as well help improve service quality of hotels etc. which will lead to increase visitors in the areas. This will further influence local businesses ranging from general to specialty stores, local growers/producers to sellers, local artisans, which will lead to socio-economic development of the area. Introduction of new tourist sites and activities will create opportunities for employment through multiple sub-segments, which will result in improved sales with new addition in adventure, eco, religious, adventure or cultural tourism have great potential of exports through foreign travelers.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
A comprehensive tourism portal, which will contain detailed information about touristic attractions, historical sites, parks, routes, transportation mediums, hotels, cultural practices, traditional food, of all provinces, districts, tehsil and villages of Pakistan will be constructed. Which will provide wide ranges of options to stay and dine in the areas travelers are visiting. I will define Dos and Donts for tourists while visiting the areas plus how to deed in the areas to reduce carbon footprints. Business development of local hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and other retail businesses through this online portal. Through this portal, we will be able to cater to the tourism industry as a whole and its stakeholder in more qualified manner. This intervention will help to produce qualified tourism related information, which will play vital role in industry development locally, nationally and internationally. Through this initiative, we will be part of international tourism and hospitality networking, which will help to share experiences and learn from industry gurus. This portal will not only be information medium but will also play vital role in research and development, which will help to understand the fast changing industry needs globally. This portal will carry detailed hotel directory of Pakistan, ranging from small guesthouses to 7-star hotel chains, which will further help visitors/travelers to select hotels as per their needs. A step further to connect the local hotel owners to wider network. Giving review options to the customers staying in hotels about their services will help improvement at both end. This will act as one stop portal for local artisans and entrepreneur to promote their businesses as well as help them sell their products at reasonable price. This will surely help create value chain as well as help reduce unemployment. We will categorize and list professional tour guides and promote as well as discourage fake tour guides
