Explain your idea in details:
The idea is to collect clothes, footwear, utensils, toys and other used up items that people use in their day to day lives. These items will be collected and sanitized. After this is done, the items will further be distributed to needy people. We will maintain a record of items taken from different donators and also a record of the donatees receiving it. In this way, we will try to ensure equal distribution of items. We will also collect plastic items and see how those can be reused as other alternatives. We will take in any used-up material that the person wants to throw away and convert it to another re-usable item. For example, taking a tin can and converting it to a pen stand. These will also be distributed among the needy as non-essential items. Our database will keep a collection of essential and non-essential items that are being circulated. The aim is to finally re-distribute goods that are in usable condition to people who can still utilize them and ensure zero wastage of items. Items that are hard to dispose and non-decomposable goods will also be taken care of. The best thing out of this is that it tries to provide the disadvantaged and needy with at least some items that they need badly and try to provide them with those on time. Further the non-essential goods will aim to enhance their standard of living. The donations will be kept as an accumulation and will be distributed based on requirement from time to time- on general basis to immediate people who require the items or in case if people who have faced a recent calamity (floods, earthquake, etc) and need immediate help, these items will be circulated to them then.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The target audience for this idea will be the poor and needy people. On long term since we have the goods accumulated, the second level of target audience will be those who are in immediate need (people who have lost shelter in natural calamity like floods or earthquakes). In order to evaluate success- we will analyse all data thats recorded in our database. We will have collection of donators and donate details. As long as necessary items reach all needy people equally, we will be taking it as a step towards success.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
To implement this model, we will need a team to help with app development and build a web page. Once that is done, we will request people who want to donate to register. From the details they provide we will store in the database. Additionally, to keep track of whats needed among the poor, we will need volunteers/ members to reach out the rurals, slums and people living on streets to take multiple surveys and record those as well.
